Is Amos Isaiah’s Father (Amos the prophet that is)?

When the book of Isaiah says he is the son of Amoz I automatically assume this refers to the prophet Amos. Their ministries were close to the same time and the beginning of Isaiah’s book seems to assume the audience to know who Amoz is and I reason who more would they have been familiar with...

What part of 'you know not' do you not understand?

I was taught that when Jesus said no man knows the day nor the hour He was using a Hebrew idiom referring to the Feast of Trumpets because supposedly no one knew the day nor the hour of the beginning of the Feast of Trumpets except by the sighting of the new moon which could happen within a...

Charter Financial is the name of the company. Leland Von Syring I believe is the owner. charternotes.com is one of his websites. I found his advertisement in a home business/entrepreneur magazine and discovered the company is accredited with the better business bureau.

    List of unfulfilled prophecies, anyone?

I wonder how much influence unbelieving liberal "biblical scholars" have had on dating biblical events and to what degree they have inspired misinterpretations of Bible history and prophecy. Secondly, how much of it is unintentional and intentional? That discussion would make for a whole new...

"... So the Jewish chronicle (i): that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity; the king for his tyranny, and the nation for their idolatry; and both for these and other sins they were guilty of; for, though they did the will of God in carrying...

Jeremiah 25:12 Commentaries: 'Then it will be when seventy years are completed I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation,' declares the LORD, 'for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans; and I will make it an everlasting desolation. List of unfulfilled prophecies, anyone?

I'm finding that it is a held belief that the captivity period was indeed seventy years. One of the periods thought to conclude the Babylonian captivity is from 608 B.C. to 538 B.C. thus being recognized as the fulfillment of Jeremiah 29:10.

vinsight4u, thank you for the dialogue! With all of the varying of opinion concerning dating biblical events I can’t help but wonder if there is some discrepancy concerning the exact years the Babylonian Kingdom began or ended. For example if scholars can differ on Jesus birth year ranging from...

Thank you vinsight4u for bringing this passage to my attention. It appears this is the passage that Daniel was referencing in chapter nine verse two. Following is Jeremiah 25:12 "And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that...

Thank you rockytopva both for your opinion and your contributive article! I can't but wonder if your belief concerning Ezekiel 38 being the most imminent unfulfilled prophecy is opinion or fact. It seems establishing it as a fact may be difficult but nonetheless sounds very plausible. Thank you...
