How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

My point is that if it's ok to disagree with one part of the bible, then why not another? Jefferson's bible is still Christian teaching.

So if you believe in the evolutionary explanation for life on this planet and the cosmological explanation for the formation of the solar system then you're not a Christian?

    The Eternal Sin?

Just another part of the bible which is outdated, unhelpful, misleading folly. Don't eat shellfish :teeth:

How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

I am a determinist and I don’t believe in free will. All we can hope for is that mankind receives the correct environmental and genetic influences to enable ethically correct behavior. I don’t believe that god created the universe for mankind, rather that god created the ability of man to see...

Can I treat my Bible's translation absolute?

I wouldn't treat even the most accurate translation of the bible as being the absolute truth, or you'd have to believe in talking snakes, rib women, a literal hell of eternal torture for non-believers and man eating fish that can sustain men in their bellies.

We have a difference of opinion - it is not abundant ignorance which results in my views, imo.

How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

I don’t view the bible as being an infallible source of information about god, jesus, satan, heaven, hell or anything else for that matter. It was written by men and is so full of obvious untruths as to call any passage into question and allow it to be dismissed as a lie. The origin of mankind...

How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

like I said; I don't think god interferes with the physical/natural world. The crucifixion of Jesus was just some bad stuff that happened, like tsunamis and childhood cancer, except that it was the work of the evil spirit - satan. I don't think god "sent" Jesus to earth; rather I think Jesus was...

How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

Why does god give children cancer if it is not absolutely necessary? Jesus needed to be a human, although he was also god (perfect) so that he could guide us and teach the faith in companionship. I do not believe that god decided to crucify jesus to save us from hell, but rather that satan...

How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

    1. Satan and his angels chose to end that unity with god, and as they were no longer in uniun, they were not in heaven (cast out of heaven). To me, satan represents the every present temptation to disobey god's guidance. He is very real to me. 2. In church on sunday we studied some scripture...

How I came to be a Christian - my interpretation of central Christian teachings.

God, in my mind, is the form of PERFECT thought and behavior, to be inspired, guided and comforted by. Jesus Christ was the physical manifestation of this form - perfection manifest. Prayer and worship strengthen this form in our minds and allows it to guide, support, comfort and enlighten us...

    Hi everybody!

I'm newly converted from atheist to Christian and went to Church last Sunday for the first time with real faith in my heart. I take a non-literal interpretation of scripture but that's common to many Anglicans and so I feel at home. Blessings to you all, Binary.
