To me it sounds like Christianity cared more about converting other people, so it changed aspects of itself to become more palatable to them. Which is smart, but hardly what I would want to see coming from people who claim to believe in an unchanging god.

You told me you want to forgive him but... why? It doesn't sound like he wants or deserves forgiveness. You can forget about this toxic person in your life with or without forgiveness. If it were me my end goal would be to forget about this and move on. You don't need to forgive him to do that.

I've dealt with anxiety. I ended up getting a small prescription to deal with it. I used it sparingly and trained myself to deal with it better and now I could be called a functioning member of society.
