    Confession

I occasionally hear of one or maybe a few pastors who refuse, but that's the exception. You could do worse than ask.

    Confession

Back to the original question from six months ago -- I am a convert to Lutheranism, being confirmed just over five years ago. As a former Baptist, it's taken a bit of work, but I have been to Private C&A several times now. It's wonderful to hear those words directly to YOU, especially if...

Attending an ordination, what should I wear?

Turkeys CAN fly. Very fast, and they'll scare the daylights out of you if they take off and you don't know they're there! LOL! OK, I think I know what to wear now. Thanks for all the info.

Make that penitence. I am not Data.

Attending an ordination, what should I wear?

Thanks. Don't think I'll be wearing red, unless we commemorate a martyr that day???

Attending an ordination, what should I wear?

As the title shows -- I'm planning to attend an ordination this coming Sunday, so what should I wear? Coat and tie, I presume. I have a nice purple shirt and tie that i like to wear indicating sentience. Would that be too far "out in left field"?

Do you carry a firearm in church?

Is a "conversation" the only way to send a PM on this board? I tried to send a message to the F-14 and the software won't let me.

Do you carry a firearm in church?

Time for an admission on my part -- when I am at the back of the nave, watching the doors, I never close my eyes, other than blinking. At least one person (me) is guarding over the others, and not in such a vulnerable position.

    Bowing before the Altar

My apologies for being late, but -- Just do it. As a Recovering Baptist, now LC-MS, I'm one of perhaps four who use the Sign of the Cross, our morning worship averaging perhaps 35 attendees. I guess it took me about three or four months to get comfortable having others SEE me making the Sign...

    Church charges brought against Sessions

As I sit here reading this thread, I see people here argue so hard against each other. Apparently they would want Sessions and anybody else that disagrees with them to be excommunicated. I don't see any consistency of complaints over what Democrats do and what Republicans do. I see a few...

what does it really mean to be "my brother's/sister's keeper"?

Whoa. I always think I'm immature, I mean I know all the DC Comics characters, The Shadow, etc, but I just listen to them on the radio/podcast. I had no idea you were dealing g with all this.

what does it really mean to be "my brother's/sister's keeper"?

Oh, by the way -- that question -- "Am I my brother's keeper?" -- is asked in Genesis and the rest of the Bible explains that yes, you are. My opinion, of course.

what does it really mean to be "my brother's/sister's keeper"?

Eurydice? EURYDICE??? Do you know anything about Greek mythology? Do you know who Eurydice was? You might have something going that you need to look into there.

    Church discipline

Yeah, sorta. The way I see your church operating is all trying to force you to correct your husband to what THEY think he should do, even though he no longer is a part of their group. I don't think I've read any love or forgiveness in this whole thread. They probably think what they're...

    Church discipline

Not dogma, as I understand dogma. Rather, all law and no gospel.

    Church discipline

That makes it easier to understand some of what's going on. But they still seem awfully harsh. I suspect there's a bit of Legalism sneaking in here, too.

    Church discipline

I've never heard of a Baptist church doing anything like this. It sounds like something from Amish fiction.
