God loves the treaure in us

Heres one idea... Jesus / God ignores our bad behaviour and waits for glimpses of the divine in us. I often hear "God loves us so much.." doesn't that mean He loves that special part of us, that even we are not aware of? that we are blind to? because only he can see it...and if we were to fully...

Is it OK to love life?

Here's an example: Cedric is happily married with 2 kids. has a secure well paid job. Goes to Church ,pays his tithe. Not a deeply committed Christian but still …. Cycling and kite surfing are his passions. He is a good family man and takes his family on vacations to Hawaii or Vanuatu. He lives...

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you follow Jesus?

I wouldnt give myself any more than an 8. I do a pretty good job I guess. But oh dear I may not sound very humble in saying that. So points off for lack of humility, maybe a 7.5. I am especially good at loving other loners like myself. I am a loving lone wolf. Of course prayer is a real strong...

    My 3 cents worth

I like the name of this subforum. 2 cents worth. Even though my view is worth a lot more to this whole forum. A looooot more. At least 26 cents more. so 28 cents in all. Is that 1300% more? my math is questionable these days.

    Attitude to Others Suffering

If we are truly honest with ourselves, ....... a part of us is relieved we arent going through the same pain as others. When i was in elementary school, corporal punishment was a given. When I was off the hook and someone got whacked, I felt a sense of relief that it wasnt me. As an adult my...

    Jesus as a teenager

    Amnesia and Repenting

    Father James Martin SJ

I respect this guy though i know many dont. His books i recommend highly. He is good for beginners. Especially Catholic beginners. He has becone controversial which I am sure was not his intention. I like his eclectic broad minded approach.

    Am I a moderate Christian?

Not a very good Christian? yes that's me. maybe they should have a subforum called "Mediocre Christians" That would suit me perfectly. But those of us who see ourselves towards the centre of both religion and politics. Are we secretly feeling very proud of ourselves? For not going out on a limb...

    Questions for the Final Exam

Here's some questions you might be asked by God on Judgement Day. If I were you, I'd really do some hard study so you can answer them well. Here goes. 1. Why did you spend so much time on CF and ignore me? 2. What good works did you do exactly? I don't see too many on this list. 3. Why didn't...

Grief can trigger a spiritual search

The death of a loved one can really trigger our search for meaning. Our search for God. But I guess some of us who are already devoted Christians are more ready to handle grief. My brother began his spiritual search after my mother died. He was close by her bedside in the last days and hours of...

Would you still be a Christian without the incentive of Heaven?

Meaning that you could only enjoy limited life with the Lord on this Earth. No eternal life, just this one. For some people, some Christians, it seems Heaven has already started for them here. They walk so close to God everyday. They are in love. And I respect that a lot. I think these people...

    Percentages

Do you ever ponder the numbers that will reach Heaven versus Hell? A scary thought. The narrow gate may well produce figures like 10% against 90%. Which reduces my chances significantly. :) It could mean only 10% of CF get to Heaven. I'm wondering who are the lucky 10%? :)
