Evolution and Morality just isn't logical

I'm not entirely sure that evolution and morality are at odds necessarily; maybe they are, as different concepts, but I don't know enough to comment on that. What I do know is that it is nearly impossible to hold to any form of objective morality apart from religion. And, really, it's sad when...

    Would a Lutheran Object?

In Christ, all of humanity has been saved, redeemed, ransomed and their sins atoned for and forgiven (1 Timothy 4:16; Romans 3:23-24). Outside of Christ, there is only suffering, death, and condemnation. When Jesus rose from the dead, He was acquitted of all the sins He had borne on the cross...

[MOVED] Women Submitting To Their Husbands: What Christians Get Wrong

It's not about 'love' vs. 'submission'. It's not necessary to place a bifurcation between the two. Submission is an act of love. A loving wife submits to her husband's headship. A loving husband uses his headship and spiritual leadership in service. The fest will actually be last and the last...

Modern feminism, obligatory conscript, abortion and inappropriate contentography

I just wanted to share and discuss an excellent article written by Lutheran pastor Hans Fiene about the topics mentioned in the title. It's only a short read. Below are some of the best snippets. Women Don’t Need To Get Drafted To Be Equal With Men and Women Don’t Need To Get Drafted To Be...

Are You Brave Enough to Post A Picture of Yourself?

You My fiancée and I. Our wedding is being held in a state of abeyance due to the Coronavirus. We will be married soon, I hope... *please don't quote this post, as I may change my mind about posting and would like to be able to delete the image, which I can't do in a quoted post*

Why does 'believer's baptism' often exclude infants?

And following that logic, all infants must be damned. If you believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone and for Christ's sake alone, and that baby can't have faith (or 'trust in Jesus for personal salvation'), surely the salvation of an infant must be impossible. But as we can see...

    My Question

Almost every Christian agrees the Sabbath was/is Saturday (or, more precisely, sundown Friday to sundown Saturday). The real debate is about whehter or not it is necessary to observe the Saturday Sabbbath in the same manner as the OT Israelites. Most Christians correctly understand it is not...

Why does 'believer's baptism' often exclude infants?

Often times some Christian churches will only baptise adults because they practise 'believer's baptism', which, as I understand it, is the practice of only baptising those who first have trusted in Jesus for salvation. But the Bible seems to teach plainly infants do just that. Psalm 22:9 (NIV)...

A peadobaptis asking about baptism :)

Hi brothers and sisters in Christ, I'm planning on getting married next year. Want to do due diligence before selecting a church for my fiancée and I to attend. I'm trying to understand the Baptist view about baptism more clearly. I know the basics. I've read got questions which has very...

    Question for Sabbatarians

Why is the Sabbath the only one of the ten commandments that are said to be "throughout your generations", the usual phrase that indicates it was a temporary ceremonial law only for the Jews? From Bible.ca Christians are not under the Mosaic law (Galatians 5:18). The Ten Commandments, as...

    Sabbath keeping questions

Except in Colossians 2:16-17, Galatians 4:10-11, Romans 14:5, Acts 15, Galatians 5:18, Acts 20:7, Hebrews 7, Hebrews 8 and Revelation 1:10. Christians are not under the Mosaic law (Galatians 5:18). The Ten Commandments, as given to Israel, were apart of the Old Testament convenant (Deuteronomy...

    LGBT Rights

It can be both, surely. God doesn't create anybody with homosexual urges, because those are contrary to His design and creation. We are all, however, born with original sin, without fear and love of God, as the Psalmist explains in Psalms 51:5. Even babies are inflicted with a sinful nature, and...

Why do so many Christians not believe Jesus's plain words

This isn't metaphor. Jesus is literally "the door". Why is it so hard to believe Jesus's words? Read the text. Jesus never claimed to be 'a' door. He claimed to be "the door", and He is literally "the door" to salvation. Good human logic, but forgive me for choosing God's word over your...

Why do so many Christians not believe Jesus's plain words

In Matthew 13:31, Jesus says "The Kingdom of Heaven is like...". He is capable of speaking in analogy when He so chooses. He didn't choose to do so when instituting the Sacrament. The tangible result is is being set free, though faith, to serve our neighbour in loving works.

Why do so many Christians not believe Jesus's plain words

Considering children believe in Santa Claus and the Easter bunny, I'd imagine that if Jesus said to a child 'This is my body...This is my blood', they'd just believe that as He says it, that they're receiving the natural, actual body and blood of Christ which hung on the cross. I wish my faith...

Why do so many Christians not believe Jesus's plain words

When He says "this is my body"? What is there to misinterpret? Edit: I wish I could change the title. Maybe it's too contentious. Forgive me.

    The Inspiration of Scripture

Yes, as a confessional Lutheran, I affirm that the Bible is the inerrant and inspired word of God. Of course, most Christians do, until Jesus says "this is my body" or "baptism now saves you" in which case God apparently means the exact opposite of what His word actually says. Weird.

Why can't I repent and be saved!?!

You aren't saved by your emotions, you are saved by Jesus's work on the cross. Just because you don't feel like God loves you, doesn't mean He doesn't. Don't look for proof of God's love in your emotions, because the proof of God's love for you is that while you were still a sinner, Christ died...
