    Father Seraphim Cardoza

Father Seraphim Cardoza, former rector of St. Innocent Orthodox Church in Rogue River, Oregon, has reposed. For many of us who approached Orthodoxy from a Protestant background, Father Seraphim's videos and thoughts provided a much needed calming effect to the turbulence our former worldviews...

Any experience/discernment about EMDR therapy please.

I have had a couple sessions. I'm not sure if it did much as it wasn't continued. There didn't really seem to have any spiritual context at all. My understanding is the same as Paidiske's. It seems to me that it was a way to trick the mind in order to disassociate the traumatic memories from...

    Learning About Women

Again, I don't mean any offense. One thing I have noticed in church groups is that they become quite cliquish. They attract people of similar personalities. Christianity as a whole is much more diverse. Also, I have found that once I left Protestantism for Orthodoxy the diversity became a...

    Prayers TO the dead

When I came from Protestantism I had to deal with these phrases. It helped me to understand the ancient nature of the Orthodox vernacular. Protestantism has really changed the meaning of many of these terms. "Praise" is not the same as "Worship." We praise everyday individuals. I praise my...

    Learning About Women

I didn't mean to offend. My observation is summed up in your last deduction. You think that a non-social man is doomed to not find a spouse. This is very negative regarding females. There are plenty of introverted females that love staying home. My wife is not very social and prefers to...

    Learning About Women

Your observations must be related to a specific culture. This is not at all what I have experienced in 27 years of marriage. I think you run the risk of talking yourself into despising women based on your own calloused observations. May I ask where you are from?

Opinions on the Corrective Baptism issue?

While I agree with most of what Fr. Heers says, it seems as though he resists ecclesiastical authority. I see this as a dangerous attitude. It is not dissimilar to a Prostestant view of authority. Plus, any time your authority is moral outrage you run the risk of edging too close to basing...

Opinions on the Corrective Baptism issue?

I have been disturbed by this entire fiasco. Both sides have handled it poorly in my opinion.

    I haven't been here in a while.

Hello all, I was searching for something in Google and this forum popped up. It has been a while since I posted and thought I would drop in and say hello. I don't know if any of you remember me or not. Not much has changed with me except I think I have calmed my overenthusiastic tendencies...

Multiple communion spoons - is it apostasy?

This is THE point no one wants to talk about.

Multiple communion spoons - is it apostasy?

Tapi, I think something you fail to understand is that a very large segment of Orthodoxy, many of whom never listen to Fr. Peter, believes the exact same way regarding the virus. Fr. Peter's position isn't one of innovation but one that represents a thread of belief in the church.

The Tragedy of Faithless Church Leaders

I thought you didn't refer to priests as Father on here.

The Tragedy of Faithless Church Leaders

It is all well and good to call for peace. However the continual attack and disrespect for priests on here is not an issue of unrighteous anger. It is not too much to call out such behavior. It is neither unforgiveness nor sinfulness in which Tapi has been addressed. The time of our liturgical...

The Tragedy of Faithless Church Leaders

You deny calling anyone unworthy of the faith but in the same sentence refer to priests as "ilk." We have words for your type here in Appalachia and none of them are "ilk." Why don't you answer my question. You seem to have the power to discern what is appropriate for a husband but won't reveal...
