    Before Anraham was, I AM

Joshua 1 9: Thanks. I'm in a library and they don't have earphones, so I can't listen to the video at the moment. I'll do so when I get the chance. LittleLambofJesus: Thanks.

    Before Anraham was, I AM

In light of the opinion that the future is the correct tense in Ex3:14, how, if at all, do you think it affects the implications of Christ's "Before Abraham was, I AM" quote?

    The Unforgivable Sin

Ken Rank: Is it not true that THINKING bad thoughts is a sin? Someone recently said that when we sleep we do not sin. That seems incorrect to me. When we sleep, we still think out of our sinful hearts according to the implications of scripture, don't we?

    The Unforgivable Sin

Actually, I have a life-long history of OCD and a few years ago, I was diagnosed as autistic, 'though I have doubts as to the accuracy of my diagnosis. Medical people have said this explains certain hampering aspects of my younger life.

    Before Anraham was, I AM

TrevorL: Thanks for your input. I must admit - although language is a subtle thing, affected by context and changes over time, it seems strange to me that a seemingly straightforward phrase is clouded in doubt. I would have thought that it would be easy to distinguish between the present and...

    The Unforgivable Sin

Topher694: Thanks for your response. I've been, at various times and to varying degrees, terrified of this since 1985. As I said - I've been exposed to so many differing beliefs on this matter. Could you give any biblical or logical specifics as to why you can so assuredly asserts that...

    Age of the Universe

Hedrick: As I said in my original post, I didn't know whether this particular forum was the appropriate one and now believe another would have been more appropriate.

    The Unforgivable Sin

First - my last question in my first post was meant to say "Who can NO longer commit it?". Chevyontheriver: Your post seems strangely dismissive of such a serious and seemingly valid fear. Ken Rank: Do you have any view(s) on the question I asked in my first post?

    The Unforgivable Sin

I am unsure if this is the appropriate forum to post this, but it seems to me to be as good as any. Since "finding Christianity" in 1985, I've been acquainted with the doctrine of the "unforgivable sin", 'though opinions differ throughout denominations and individuals as to what it actually...

    Sinlessness

LlewellynStevenson: What do you make of Paul's admission (slightly paraphrasing, from memory) - "That which I want to do, I do not; that which I want not to do, I do; Oh, wretched man that I am - who will deliver me from this death?", if you think Paul achieved perfect sinlessness?

    Nature of Hell

Thanks for responding. During my course of reading the Bible, Luke 16 has often confused me. Some say it's a parable; others that it's literal. It's only relatively lately that I've heard the "2 compartments" idea. It suggests the questions "Are they next to each other?"; "Why would a drop...

    Before Anraham was, I AM

LittleLambofJesus: Thanks for your input. From what you and "Der Alter" said, it looks like the Greek Septuagint is wrongly translated at this point which seems surprising. I intend looking further into the subject.

    Before Anraham was, I AM

Der Alter: Thanks for that post. I'd seen that in the LXX and though it was probably accurate. I've come across it being lauded as authoritative. It's said that Paul used it in preaching and it's argued that he coined the word "arsenokoites" (homosexuals) from "arsen" and koitas" in (I...

    Nature of Hell

Knee V: I've come across the idea of there being 2 compartments in Hell or Hades - it has been asserted and mocked by those on either side. I thought this belief was from the Haddith, part of the Talmud; I haven't come across the teaching that is was stated by Christ. Would you like to quote...

    Age of the Universe

Anastasia: Actually, when I said the bit about you maybe fearing looking at a subject, for fear of it leading you down a path down which you didn't want to go (or words to similar effect), I wondered if I'd stated it well and wondered if I'd stated it wrongly. Maybe it seemed somewhat...

    Age of the Universe

I had and expressed my doubts as to whether this particular forum was an appropriate one to post this topic. If you, Anastasia, would like to arrange a transfer, I'd be happy with that. But while we're still here, I'd like to say - this particular forum may well not be a valid place for this...

    Age of the Universe

I've come across that, but I don't understand what you mean when you say they don't use numbers in the Bible. In whatever form or language they're in, the Bible still has numbers. Maybe I'm missing your point.
