Obama admits that Taliban prisoner swap for Bergdahl could put Americans in danger

Can you elaborate on that remark? Why was that anymore simplistic than "lets go take over the whole country of Afghanistan because they didn't hand over a suspected criminal fast enough for our taste." From what I've read the government of Afghanistan was actually leaning in the direction of...

Obama admits that Taliban prisoner swap for Bergdahl could put Americans in danger

There wasn't any to begin with. It was a mistake. We should just cut our looses and get out as soon as possible. At most we should have sent in some under cover special forces and CIA to look for Bin Laden and assassinate him. There was no need to take over the whole country. Heck, we...

    We need universal healthcare now

So you think each city is going to have a number of different private fire departments and police offices to choose from? I don't see how that would financially feasible especially in smaller cities.

The US falling in line with the Communist Manifesto

    1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes. So Americans don't own private property anymore? 3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. Hmm, I could of swore my friend just inherited money from his dead father. 6. Centralization of the means...

    Being "saved"

I think their is new theory that they served as mercenaries rather than slaves. Eventually they were no longer needed and viewed as possible threat so they had to leave while plundering a little booty on the way. At least that's what I saw on the History channel a while back.

    How I Regard Israel Today

Just because something appears to be (or is) a practical necessity doesn't imply that it can't also be apartheid. I don't think necessity factors in to the definition one way or the other. I'm certain the supporters of South African apartheid also considered the actions they took necessary too.

The US falling in line with the Communist Manifesto

If that's the case communism must not be too bad because we seem to be getting along fairly well here.

The Gallup Polls – Fake or Real? 54% of Americans support gay marriage? (moved)

Get a red letter edition of the Bible and try to find something in the red that mentions homosexuality. It's possible that Paul might be discussing homosexuality in a verse or two but I don't see Jesus doing so.

    A liberal patriotic book?

I usually take Patriotism as implying much more than simply being thankful for how good you have it were you live but if that's all you mean by it then I might view as being a little more important. Thankfulness and gratitude are important for living a happy life.

    A liberal patriotic book?

What makes Patriotism so valuable to begin with? It may occasionally inspire people to perform great acts of self sacrifice but it seems just as likely to motivate stupidity (were American so we must be right!) , national selfishness (who cares if it hurts the rest of the world as long as my...

    NRA Calls Out "Weird" Gun-toters

It shouldn't be legal to carry a gun into restaurants or stores where others can see it for the simple fact that it causes alarm and can lead to shoot outs. I know if I saw a person walk into store with an AK in their hands my first thought would be "looks like a robbery is taking place."...

    We need universal healthcare now

If we just put in place an element of direct democratic control of the national healthcare plan like I suggested we wouldn't have to be too concerned about our elected officials messing it up. We could alter it ourselves and they would need our permission to implement any major change.

    We need universal healthcare now

In what way have they been dishonest? They say they want to copy the successful single payer healthcare programs you find in much of Europe and the developed world (Israel, Japan, Canada etc..). France is usually held up as one of the best examples of an effective single payer system...

The Gallup Polls – Fake or Real? 54% of Americans support gay marriage? (moved)

Opinions often change faster than the law. It's not uncommon for a gap like that to exist. It takes effort to change the law and not all the people who support gay marriage necessarily value the issue enough to fight for it too.

    Psilocybin Mushrooms

Fevered dream? Sounds like you might have eaten the amanita muscaria (sp?) Species rather than the psilocybin variety. They cause a disassociative state rather than a psychedelic state. They are mildly toxic but people still take them to catch a buzz. They can also make you lethargic and...

    Psilocybin Mushrooms

Throw up black goo? Never heard of that before. Was the Mushroom itself black and it upset the persons stomach and they puked it up or something? Psilocybe Cubensis are not poisonous the effect comes from the chemical psilocybin and Psilocin.

    Psilocybin Mushrooms

I used to eat shrooms on a weekly basis for a few months. When I first started using them I had some profound experiences ( The first time I tried them I closed my eyes and forget I had a body and then went into a sort of dream state where I was a disembodied point of awareness flying around...

    Greek-Christian syncretism

Had the early Christians left Greek philosophical thought alone I don't think Christianity would have been half as successful in expanding and becoming a socially respectable religion. Christianity would probably had stayed a religion of the less educated, poor, and outcasts. It was people...
