    "Sins" of Omission

This question came to me in the General theology on a thread about Job. I don't know if that is a correct title for my questions, but here I go. Some folks seem to imply that they think that because God allows evil, He is guilty of evil. Why? Is it because we consider it a sin of omission if...

You know, back home, we have lots and lots of churches, but many are half empty. I drive around here in Lynchburg,VA.. home of one of the biggest Christian colleges in America, and I see churches all over as well. I don't have to go in, but I bet most of them are half empty most Sundays also...

    Interpretation of Faith and Theology

I am going to post a quote from a book I just read. Let me know your thoughts on it: The theologian must realize that while the biblical data is sacred and infallible , the theoretical models and interpretations are human and fallible. not only are the theologians models and interpretations...

    Necessary Evil

Is necessary evil even a Christian principle? Take for example if you lied to save somebody's life. Is that justified? We like to think so, correct? But is it right none the less? I don't think it is, but then I think about.... the folks that saved so many Jews lives lying to protect them in...

    Numbers, not the book.

So I've been wondering.. Without turning this into a debate on some bonus numerology theology... I might have missed some numbers, but through out the Bible you tend to see the same numbers repeated: 3 7 12 40 Sometimes events happen in multiples of these numbers. I'll say again, I don't want...

    Divine theology for the Lost

..or why two works of fiction seem to dominate the Christian idea of Heaven, Hell, and "divine politics". Paradise Lost, an epic poem written in blank verse by John Milton in the 17th century...written in twelve 'books", and Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, three epic poems divided into...

Where do you sit in church?

What I mean is: where in the pews/chairs do you usually sit? The front row? Somewhere in the middle? The back? I sit in the back raw closest to the middle walk way. I like to be able to be close enough to sneak out if I have to use the bathroom.

Why did God curse the serpent?

KJV Genesis Chapter 3:1-15 So it is common among Christians that the serpent was Satan, but was Satan in the form of a serpent, or did he possess a serpent? Either way, why did God curse the serpent to be legless? If Satan took the form of a serpent, then it is not the snakes fault because it...

Why does the United States remain allied with Saudi Arabia?

Is there more to it than just "'cause they gots the oil!"?? It can't be because of that simple reason can it? The Black Death and the questioning of divine authority.

I wonder if the Black Plague help set the stage for the protestant reformation. I mean if you have clergy fleeing villages for fear of disease[on top of those who stayed were dying left and right], and a pope hiding in his castle. I can see a mistrust and disassociation with the church. If you...

So when did they figure out something was off?

So I am noticing in a lot of commentaries and survey books that they tend to place Christ's life on earth between 4 B.C.-29 A.D. Shouldn't it be 0-33 A.D. Or 1-34 A.D.?
