Texas congressman may file articles of impeachment

Well, some have been calling for Obama's impeachment since before he was first inaugurated, so why would we expect the calls to stop now?

Controversial Execution In Ohio Used New Untested Drug Combination; Took 24 Minutes

If memory serves, most death penalties used currently in the US don't meet the humaine requirements required to put down dogs. I agree. Beyond the ineffectiveness of the death penalty, my issue is not about the executed. It's about the society willing to do it.

Evolution, oh right, so if you make an ape noise you don't know that your not an ape?

Furthermore, this entire thread is being executed in the form of a visual code representing ape noise! :waaah:

    A theory about asexuals

I imagine that, like most elements of sexuality and indeed most human emotions, it's more a continuum than a binary function. Different people experience sexual attraction in different ways and different extremes, ranging from very high to imperceptible.

    A theory about asexuals

Oddly enough I was reading a thread on asexuals on a singles/dating message board a few days ago and there was often a similar inability of people to understand or accept asexuality. While I'm certainly not asexual and elements of it are difficult to relate to, I certainly have no doubt it...

    Education vs. indoctrination, brainwashing, etc.

I'd recommend taking this question over to the science forum rather than having this thread derail into a different topic. But I must point out that we can tell thing about the past the same way crime investigators can tell things about a murder scene. Events leave evidence. You don't require an...

Judge strikes down key part of Chicago gun ordinance

To paraphrase Stephen Colbert 'The 2nd amendment defeats all other amendments. Which makes sense. I mean, it has all the guns.'

I didn't think that I would ever think of a research question in the natural sciences

Right next door here in New Zeland, we broke geographically from Australia before mammals rose to prominance. Our only native land mammal is small bats. As a result, birds ended up filling the niche, all the way from the large predators to the small burrow dwellers. Sadly, the arrival of humans...

Obamacare: 45 states haven't hit 10% of goals

The implimentation has been bad, not helped by the sabotage at every turn. And yes, it's a far from ideal fix to Americas massive healthcare problems. Healthcare was a river the US needed to cross. Republicans refused to cross it. Obama compromised and met half way and now the right wing is...

Obamacare: 45 states haven't hit 10% of goals

It certainly doesn't seem as popular as hoped. It's almost as if half the nations politicians and a 24 hour propoganda network have been relentlessly attacking and lying about it to the nation for the past six years. But don't worry. I'm sure Daryl Issa will get to the bottom of it with his...

I know his horse has been beaten to death, but maybe new evidence

Even less so. In the interview context Obama is talking about how people refer to 'his Muslim faith'. The interview wrongly corrects him with 'your Christian faith' and Obama accepts it and continues. If people had been accusing him of a secret moonbase. and he said 'People keep talking about...

    "Living off the Government"

:( "There's a culture of excess military spending, fuelled by pork barrell politics at the expence of military personell and verterans." "Obama does it too!" :( "Whew. I'm glad we were able to completely resolve such a complex issue so quickly"

    "Living off the Government"

The human resource side of the military is where the money should be going. Unfortunately a lot of it is funnelled into incredibly wasteful projects, like building tanks the army doesn't want, to be stored in warehouses until they rust away. If there have to be make-work programmes, shouldn't...

    Before any gets upset...

While ads about the ACA are certainly trying to sell the system, they're also struggling to counter the relentless tide of propoganda and lies against it. Heck, the California version https://www.coveredca.com/ is doing quite well. So well in fact that state republicans have had to launch...

61% disapprove of Obamacare, 31% approve

Sure. A lot of people hate Obamacare. But they support all the individual elements of it. The truth is, Americans love Obamacare - latimes.com Jimmy Kimmel (because comedians are becoming a more trusted news source in the US than the main stream media) had a great section asking people...

Poll: Nearly half say replace everyone in Congress

Until the people are willing to admit (and do something about the fact) that gerrymandering has led to many of your elections being rigged, I don't see anything changing.

Christie wins NJ; Cuccinelli loses Virginia -- sign of things to come?

Furthermore, there's a lot to indicate that Cuccinelli is and extremist AND corrupt. He's taken cash and gifts from the same businessman that got governor McDonald in hot water.

Senator Rand Paul Plagiarized from Wikipedia

It probably would have been fine if Paul had admitted that he'd copied the text from wikipedia and didn't cite it out loud. But his response seems to indicate either he doesn't understand plagerism or that he is incapable of admitting error. My concern is that it's the latter, sadly not...
