Phillip, I read Matthew 23 much differently than you. Our Master told us to not emulate their works because they place heavy burdens on us. Do you cover your stove on the Sabbath and not flip a light switch? I don't think that's what the Lord intended.

We usually light candles at sunset on Friday, although this is a tradition and not a command. On the Sabbath, I take it easy and rest, don't do any big housework and try to stay focused on the Lord. I don't do the strict Orthodox Jewish type of Sabbath.

I've had exactly the same thought. It's all really frightening. I feel so bad for the children coming up in this world. What do they have to look forward to? The wonderful United States of America that our forefathers fought and died for is gone. :(
