St. Patrick Was Not a Protestant

The cognitive dissonance necessary to claim he wasn't Catholic is WILD

Is family a right or a privilege?

Yeah he's over 10 years younger than her, I think if they were both left to their own devices they wouldn't be in any kind of hurry to marry but especially him.

Is family a right or a privilege?

I'm just reflecting on this complicated issue with my sister-in-law and relating it to an episode of a sitcom I used to love. Long story short, two of the main characters are married, the wife had an absentee father who is trying to reconcile with her and her husband naively invites him to...

BREAKING: England’s National Health Service ends puberty blockers for kids

I know the UK isn't litigious like we are, but I wonder if ending those becomes an admission of sorts that opens them up to lawsuits?

    Shaun King converts to Islam

They call him "Talcum X" cause he's a phony. The dude gets real vocal when racial controversy is peaking and gets all BLM on everyone even though he's white. It looks like he finally ran out of bullets in that gun so he switched to a Muslim one, I guess he can't go without his "perceived...

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

Tell me about it, inflation is definitely having an effect too. Although I've gotten pretty good at stocking up and redeeming points and rewards on the various fast food store apps out there lol. My prayers for you brother, I know your struggle. It really is, and that sounds like a great idea...

Need a priest's help for dissertation

I highly recommend checking out the Catholic sub on Reddit, there are a few priests who are regulars on there. I think there are even some who are moderators. Here's the link to the sub: Catholicism: All about the Catholic faith • r/Catholicism If you post this same question there I would be...

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

Something's better than nothing, I'll look into Carr's work and see if I can make use of it. Thanks for the recommendation. That's unfortunately a big reason I'm trying to break this addiction, I probably spend anywhere from $300 all the way up to $700 a month on eating out, and 98% of that is...

Pope Francis: “Ukraine must have the courage to raise the white flag and negotiate”

I can't remember if it was Crimea or the Donbas region or both, but I recall some coverage pointing out that the residents of that/those region(s) had been ethnically Russian for a long time and they all wanted to be annexed by Russia and Ukraine was getting in the way of that. I guess it'd be...

Pope Francis: “Ukraine must have the courage to raise the white flag and negotiate”

I found this article from the Vatican that hopefully provides more context. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet since I’m at work right now… https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2024-03/pope-francis-swiss-tv-interview-gaza-ukraine-wars.html

Pope Francis: “Ukraine must have the courage to raise the white flag and negotiate”

The way Colm tweeted it I read it as if the bold part were part of the whole quote.

Pope Francis: “Ukraine must have the courage to raise the white flag and negotiate”

This was tweeted by our correspondent Colm Flynn about 40mins ago. https://x.com/colmflynnire/status/1766526479154729389?s=46&t=4lZ3VvQcmfTUF0sVR3CvAQ Methinks this won’t go over well…

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

I would definitely like the solitude of a rural life. I'm more of a country boy anyway, cities gimme too much anxiety. My "city" (100K people) is about as big as I can tolerate. If we decide almonds aren't viable longterm I still have a vineyard/winery in my back pocket. I might pull out the...

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

That's something we've talked about doing if my grandmas husband ever passes away and we do actually get to receive our inheritance from her. My uncle thinks we (my wife and kids and I) should be the ones to move out on the farm. I kinda like that idea if I can feasibly keep doing my EWTN job...

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

They probably don't eat processed food either, or at least much less of it. Even if they're crop farmers, they probably raise livestock for their own food. I know my moms family used to do that, they had an almond orchard but they would raise hogs, chickens, and a steer for to eat.

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

For a while I was keeping bags or containers of trail mix around. Usually some mixture of nuts and dried fruit, I'm not much for candy in trail mix. That did alright with my appetite for a bit but it never replaced fast food at meals, I'd munch on some trail mix around mid morning but come noon...

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

That might be part of my problem, I've never been a snacky guy. I just go big on my main meals. But yeah fast food has been very literally about 95% of my diet since 2008 or so. I just don't like to cook or make sandwiches or anything and then the other problem is my schedule is different from...

Does anyone know any clever ways to overcome gluttony and intemperance?

I'm not experiencing any adverse health affects, not yet anyway, I'm more needing to overcome the mental and spiritual aspect of gluttony.
