    I Need Serious Help!

Keep on sinning is making no change to your life. We don't become perfect straight away! The fact that you regret your sin shows the Spirit is working in you. It's going to be a lifelong battle to stop yourself from sinning but you can get there. Are you a reader of books because there are a...

Do I love my son more than God loves His Son: The strange bloodlust Sacrifice of God

I agree totally with that. Also Jesus willingly died. For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This...

    Online Ministry

It seems now there's a lot of people doing ministry online, from full-time pastors to "ordinary" Christians. Bloggers, tweeters, church websites, podcasters like myself. It's be good for us to have a place to hang out and discuss issues.

    Saved from what?

I think we need to go back further. The law came from someone. When Jesus saved us he saved us from himself. That seems crazy. But we've got to understand that it was God who was most offended by sin. "But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the...

    do Calvinists believe

I'll try to be brief. Calvinists do believe in free will, but not the same way as Arminians. We believe your will is limited in some way. So as an example. I have a car, I can drive it anywhere I want. But I can't fly it. It's limited. In the same way, before you were a Christian, you could...

feelings of pride and self righteousness

Lol it's so hard to summarise what you should do in a post. "do I just confess it and repent and say sorry and hope in God's awesome mercy and grace? " The answer is yes and no. Yes you need to trust that when you confess your sin and repent that God forgives you because of what Jesus...

    Ask an Atheist

I'm sorry I'm not going to read all 4 pages, so I hope the discussion hasn't moved on. 1. What is your view of atheism and atheists? I respect you for seeking evidence for your beliefs. I think however you are misled. Even if we assume evolution is true, there is no evidence non-living...

How can i help my girlfriend see my views of God?

You are right. God can make the change. However God can work through you. Look at the Bible together. You both may learn something :)

    Commands vs. non-Commands

The Bible is the development of God's relationship with us. As things went on, times changed. The OT (Old Testament) laws with their demands for capital punishment were a picture of the judgement that would come from God. Now we have a clearer picture of hell. I think the NT (New Testament)...

    Christianity's place in the universe

Wow! Love this! I think we are made to feel small so that we start to realise how small we are. As a Christian, I should say: "Who I am is insignificant" But beyond that is one bigger than this universe, who made this universe. It is immeasurably important that I know him. Ps 19:1 "The...

How can i help my girlfriend see my views of God?

The best thing my wife and I did was read the Bible together. Pick a book like Ephesians, which talks about the importance of both church and personal saving faith and just discuss what you read. Once people start reading the Bible, they will very rarely reject it.

Daughter believes God wasnt alone when creating the heavensn and earth.

Don't be concerned by your daughter asking questions. This shows she is really thinking about it. As a Primary School Teacher (I think you call it Elemenatry in the US) and Youth Leader, I'm used to answering the questions of kids. I was also that annoying questioning kid myself! So I'm happy...

    if you are wrong

Glad to see another rational person here! I agree Pascal's wager is dumb. I'm also not a big fan of Christians who think that faith is opposed to reason. Unfortunately our modern word faith has come to mean "a leap of faith", against all knowledge. That isn't what it means in the Bible...

feelings of pride and self righteousness

Dear kpfru2, Praise God for your story! I struggled with the same issues. I wasn't sure if I was a Christian, if God heard my prayers and I often judged others. Have you been taught about the flesh? The flesh is the part of you that was there before you were a Christian. Now you are a...

Calvin's Institutes For Kindle - Best Version?

Just be aware, the Henry Beveridge version is not really the best English versions, though the best don't seem to be on Kindle. If I remember rightly, one of Calvin's successors took it upon himself to rewrite the Institutes. Beveridge is a translation of that. I know Covenant Seminary in US and...

I just wanted to share why I became a Calvinist (Feel free to share!)

What an encouraging discussion! I was raised a Methodist and my parents taught me to take what the Bible said as read. Our youth group often debated issues, including predestination. It seemed obvious to me that the Bible taught predestination. I'd read Ephesians 1 and Romans 9. Then at Uni...
