Do Non-Christians Have the Possibility of Going to Heaven?

This is legalism. The belief that good deeds can get you into heaven. Paul wrote in Romans 3:28 that man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law (good deeds). In Galatians 2:21, he wrote that if righteousness could be attained by the law, then Christ died for nothing.

A Resolution Condemning White Supremacy Causes Chaos at the Southern Baptist Convention

#1 - Why don't they just condemn all racial supremacist doctrines? #2 - The Southern Baptist Convention was created to support slavery?! This is the first I've EVER heard of this.

    Isn't it interesting...

I don't generally think I am setting up a straw man to say that a consistent Arminian is a heretic. I'm referring to the kind of Arminianism I grew up under. You may not agree, but the type of Arminianism I've grown up with often does lead to that. But I didn't know that there were different...

    Isn't it interesting...

Ya. I find that those who are gracious to others (showing love, whether they are Arminian or Calvinist) are the true Christians. It's true that Arminians are in error, but at least most are inconsistent. If they were consistent, of course, they would be in heresy (openness theology, Pelagianism...

    Mystical Experience

You can experience Christ through the Bible. But consider my situation. I have a mental illness. If I were to take my experience and say that I know it's God or I know it's something else, I'd be denying the fact that I have a faulty/fallen brain. I can't afford to do that. I need to depend...

    Mystical Experience

I've come to believe that I cannot trust my experiences even more than others cannot trust theirs. When I was 8 years old I woke up and saw what I perceived to be a devil of some sort. It looked physical. Glowed blue in the dark. Had long ears like a bat. A snout like a pig. And was only a...

    Discussing Calvinism with Elders

I do like the posts. They both make sense. I would say the first post by mark kennedy is more relevant to the discussion. While I believe what you wrote AMR, what I'm trying to find out is the best approach to discuss the topic, or possibly not discuss it. It's just so central to other...

Looking for an Intro to Logic for Christians book

Systematic Theology by Van Til goes into the epistemology of a Christian. I found it illuminating. That coupled with a regular secular critical thinking book sufficed for me as far as I can tell. Now I look at every aspect of life (math, business, economics, etc.) through a Christian worldview...

    Discussing Calvinism with Elders

Hi. Let me give a preamble. My wife and I are both Christians. I am a Calvinist, and she is not a 5-point Calvinist. She believes in Eternal Security and Perseverance of the Saints but for some reason does not accept the rest (honestly, don't ask me why, I didn't say that she was consistent)...

Salvation in the OT before Christ, without the Spirit?

I kind of want to see if anyone can show an honest logical connection to replacement theology and anti-semitism. As of yet, I've only seen assertions that it is. And anecdotes aren't proof either. There needs to be a logical connection, otherwise it's useless name calling and abuse of brothers...

Can a Calvinist preach to non-believers "Jesus died for your sins!"???

    James White fan? Just wondering...:)

    I know a man...

I kind of agree with you. It's more of John the Apostle's style to talk about himself secretly, not Paul's. But I'm not 100% one way or the other as to who Paul was talking about.

    I know a man...

I say that since I never knew the guy, I would let God judge him. lol. I don't think the Apostles were perfect, but I do believe in the authority Christ gave them. Peter certainly recognized Paul's authority. Speaking on Paul's writings, Peter weighs them on par with "the rest of the...

    I know a man...

Some say the man could have been John the Apostle. Personally, I don't think it's important, or else it would have been written.

    Romans 9 and Salvation

I feel like a mod needs to clean this thread up since most of the thread's posts have nothing to do with the exegesis of Romans 9.

Salvation in the OT before Christ, without the Spirit?

Semantics. I used the term indwelling because the Holy Spirit was living in John the Baptist his whole life. But I did earlier explain that it's not indwelling in the same sense that we are indwelt today.
