    Render Unto Caesar

Uhm, European Liberalism is as economically right-wing as the Republican Party. At least in the Netherlands and Germany it is. And doesn't S-D or Socialism not fit Chrysostom's description, seeing as how the state forcebly (if you don´t comply) of the richer and give it to the poor, without a...

    Christ

Well, in the epistles and gospels they called him Iesous, so the only thing we know is that he was called Iesous, or Jesus, by the Apostles. The rest is vain speculation.

Has the consecration requested by Our Lady of Fatima been made or not?

With the Latins one can only hope so :P This is of courrse a joke ;)

Latin was Jesus as well, since the 'y' isn't much used in Latin. The Greek name didn't start with the Y (upsilon) but with the I (iota). So much for that theory. We shouldn't presume to be wiser than the Apostles and Evangelists, who used the Greek name. Don't you know that much of the Judaism...

Has the consecration requested by Our Lady of Fatima been made or not?

Indeed, why consecrate Russia? Surely since Tsar Vladimir this hasn't been necessary. Nasty Latins

Where did I judge 99% of humanity? I only expressed my grief at the 'we're the 99%'-rhetoric still being used, as if 99% has one will and is oppressed by 'those evil rich 1%'. You do realise that social-democracy (aka American Liberalism) and socialism are in its very essence anti-christian...

I doubt it. Most governors were a few years in charge after which they would move on to the next province.

The conversation between Jesus and Pilate was probably in Greek. The Apostles called him Jesus, the ECF´s called him Jesus, and now it would be too bad for us. That thought alone is insane. The NT and the Septuagint are FAR superior than a 10th-century text, which is antichristian and...

Wasn't this whole statues and icons-thing settled in 787 AD, at the 7th Ecumenical Council? Can't we just follow it and stop debating after some 1300 years? :) edit: whoops, miscalculation of some 300 years

Yeshua? ( staff edit) The NT is in Greek and never mentions the name Yeshua, only Ièsous, which became Jesus in our languages.

Who are you to pass judgment over the hearts of a group so diverse? 'Rich people' aren't all that evil you make them out to be. This thread breathes social-democracy or worse ('We're the 99%' rhetoric for example), so that is what the quote is for. Yes, they sin, but so do you and me.

Which Orthodox bible do you recommend?

What is the quality of the LXX translation in the OSB? How does it compare to the NETS? I heard the OSB had some hiccups in the Old Testament, like retaining some stuff from the MT over the LXX in some instances.

What is your main disagreement with the Catholic Church?

My main disagreement with the CC is the Filioque, they shouldn't have deviated from the Nicene Creed (381) and shouldn't have made the changes without the consent of an Ecumenical Council.

Looking for a Church that's not Supersessionist

"It was said concerning Abba Agathon that some monks came to find him having heard tell of his great discernment. Wanting to see if he would lose his temper they said to him 'Aren't you that Agathon who is said to be a fornicator and a proud man?' 'Yes, it is very true,' he answered. They...

Well-known Protestant Bible publishers remove Trinitarian language from Scriptures...

Well this was to be excepted, I guess the next step is removing all potential 'offensive' verses about homosexuality, divorce etc. etc Very sad

“Should we look to kings and princes to put right the inequalities between rich and poor? Should we require soldiers to come and seize the rich person’s gold and distribute it among his destitute neighbors? Should we beg the emperor to impose a tax on the rich so great that it...
