What is marriage in the eyes of God?

Kinda hard to accidentally throw a 500k wedding. They do it for the party. ^_^

    Was it all worth it?

Was it "worth it" for Israel to be split in two? Were the divisions among the priests and leaders of Israel "worth it"? I believe such divisions are part of The Plan, so yes, it's worth it.

Would you follow a person who is regarded as a modern day prophet?

I agree. Full-on cynicism is not from God.

Would you follow a person who is regarded as a modern day prophet?

Probably not. Or...certainly not because he/she was "regarded as a prophet". Maybe if someone got killed in my place I might consider it. ;)

It is not possible to accidentallly get married.

Hell wasn't intended for us but we are still sent there?

I'm not sure if I understand you. If we were not weak, we would not need saving from anything, so yes, we are saved because of our weakness. I'm claiming here that salvation is independent of what one "deserves". Thanks for the sidebar. :)

Do you think suffering can play a role in sanctifying a Christian?

This rather depends on one's definition of "saved".

how to handle this when you are down and out?

As long as you see yourself as a loser this will happen.

Hell wasn't intended for us but we are still sent there?

We are not saved because of our greatness, we are saved because of our weakness. The weak don't "deserve" saving. They need it.

Hell wasn't intended for us but we are still sent there?

Saying that "no one deserves heaven" is not the same thing as saying "everyone deserves hell". There is quite a wide swath between the two options. You don't deserve an Oscar, therefore you deserve to spend the rest of your natural life in a federal penitentiary...

    Orthodox view of Hell

This is the sticking point, I believe. People don't hate being loved. They just don't believe that they are.

Do you think suffering can play a role in sanctifying a Christian?

I think that through suffering, all of our theories and beliefs and assumptions are tested in the crucible of reality. What burns away was dross that was holding us back anyhow. As a caveat, I would say that self-inflicted suffering does not have the same effect. Flogging oneself is more likely...

Hell wasn't intended for us but we are still sent there?

There is zero chance that you will someday find out that God is less merciful than you thought.

    Sexual intercourse

The OP specifically asked for an Orthodox point of view. "Sexual immorality" would constitute different things to a Catholic or to a Baptist than to an Orthodox. That's just the way it is.

question about reward and punishment for born again Christians?

The mindset is not limited to indulgences. "Believing in Jesus" for the purposes of saving one's own butt from hell is the same thing.

question about reward and punishment for born again Christians?

I think...that the things we do while expecting to be rewarded probably won't count towards any reward. God ain't for sale.

    Liberal Christian Theology..

You could demonstrate that your post is "bible based". ^_^

    Sexual intercourse

It would be good for you to talk to your priest about this. You can also ask on the Orthodox sub-forum for more Orthodox-specific answers.

Is there anyone who hasn't sinned against love?

    Liberal Christian Theology..

What, precisely, is the difference between Martin Luther saying "these books should not be read in the way they have historically been read" and a modern Bible scholar saying "these books should not be read in the way they have historically been read"?
