    Chicken soup anyone?

Had to stay home from church today due to a throat infection that may or may not be contagious.... So I'm making home-made chicken noodle soup :D I even make my own noodles! Anyone want some?

    Had to share.

I got my Rumors newsletter this morning, printed it out and I'm reading through it at the moment. I came across this story and had to share: My grandmother, a retired pastor introduced me to rumors. I love it. It's got just the right mix of God and humor :D

So He works in *really* mysterious ways!

For the past seven years, since before my son was born, I've lived in a big old farmhouse with my mother. Three years ago I got married and my husband moved in with us. Then last year, my mother got engaged and moved out, letting us rent the house, with the idea that in a couple of years we...

    Revolution in World Missions

Has anyone read this? I recently read it and it is phenomenal! It's really changed my perspective and made me really want to grow closer to God and help with missions work!

    Satan, the devil, etc...

Time for some fun :D (or not...) I'm interesting in seeing what everyone's view of Satan is. Do you think he is an actual being, fallen angel, adversary of good or simply misunderstood? Or do you think Satan/the devil is more an archetype, an anthropomorphization of the concept of evil?

One way to get a reluctant spouse into church (not recommended.....)

My husband, while being reluctant to attend church in general, has a really good reason for not going to church, he works every weekend from 6 AM Saturday to 6 PM Sunday. Today, however, that excuse just didn't cut it. My church is composed of a majority of older people, with the average age...

Well, when He wants you to do something....

I'd recently decided to go back to school and work toward ordination, but shortly after began having doubts. I've prayed about it, a lot, and asked God to just really let me know if this is what He wants me to do. So much for opening my big mouth..... I've been asked to lead the adult Sunday...

    Prayers for my church please.

We just found out today that our pastor is being assigned to a nother church. He has helped our church tremendously and it is a great loss for him to go. We don't have any idea who our pastor is going to be, we only pray he or she will continue to build the church up!

So I've decided to go for it....

After much prayer and many, many, many hints from many, many, many different sources... I've decided to go back to college... get a degree... and work towards ordination in the United Methodist Church!

    Stumbling block for hubby.

My husband is a former Christian who was badly hurt by a church, and a very, very controlling pastor. He has since refused to consider church, faith, Christ or anything. When we married I wasn't a Christian, but in the past couple of years, I've come to Christ. At first it was a slow process...

    40 Days and other general busy-ness :D

On September 25th, we kicked off a 40 Days of Purpose Campaign at my church! It's going wonderfully so far! It's a small church, only about 150 members, with a regular attendance of less than 60. And those 60 members seem to attend mostly out of habit... but praise God, 45 of them have...

    Which makes more sense?

God passes out little bits of truth to a whole bunch of different groups of people and then leaves it up to humanity to sort it all out... Or.... God gives the whole truth to one group and then tells them to carefully preserve it and share it with everyone else...

    Is it possible.

Is it possible for the people here to defend their choice in faith without having to tear down the faith of everyone around them? Again and again I see threads with people trying to give a point-by-point refutation of the Bible in order to prove that theirs is the true faith. Christianity can...

    The problem of time...

My church has started the 40 Days of Purpose and my grandmother has been struggling with some of the concepts presented in the first two days of readings. It's gotten me to thinking.... The premise of the book Purpose Driven Life is that God created each and every person with a specific...

    Some people....

There are some people here at CF who are pushing me closer and closer to becoming Catholic ;) I'm taking RCIA! Not making promises... but thought you guys might like to hear that....

    Frustrated...

When I first became a Christian I attended a small Pentecostal church because I was trying to avoid the church my mother grew up in (which I ended up joining later anyway...) I remained friends with a few of the people there. They have a small coffee house on their church grounds and every...

    The Word of God.

Ok, not sure if this is the right place, but it seemed to be the best place for it... if it's not move it! I don't mean to offend anyone, so please don't take this as such. This is as much to clarify my thoughts as to get other perspectives on this: The Word of God. Is it Jesus? Or is...

    Hi!

Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself since I find myself in this part of the forum as much as any other! I'm a Protestant, United Methodist to be more specific (twice removed from the Catholic church :D ) However I love a great deal about the Catholic church. The liturgy, the...
