Is wanting to sin, a sin?

Is it humanely possible to be so controlled? For example we are biologically programmed to want to have sex and find other humans attractive (there are some exceptions of course). So when someone refrains and becomes celibate, is it not impossible to never waver in your thoughts? Isn't the whole...

Is wanting to sin, a sin?

    1. I thought temptation WAS a sin? I also thought Jesus did sin, like being angry with his disciples and not being loving towards them when he was displeased. Maybe this wasn't a sin, but I thought Jesus was an example of a Godly way to live and not an unachievable perfection. 2&3. Is there any...

How are sins graded in severity?

But do yourself personally believe that murder is akin to gluttony? They obviously have very different effects as you mention so it is seems odd that they would merit the same in the eyes of God, spiritually that is. But to those who say there is an obvious grading system using your...

Is wanting to sin, a sin?

Thanks for the replies, but now I am more confused than before. In a previous thread I got the exact opposite answers, that categorically stated if you are born with an urge that is a sin in the bible, as long as you resist that urge you are OK.

How are sins graded in severity?

This may seem a silly and basic question to some, but how exactly do you know which sins are more serious than others? It seems that all of the ten commandments are considered equal, but are these less important than the seven deadly sins? Or some of the old testament rules still followed or...

Is wanting to sin, a sin?

Hello again, now I am offically not banned anymore I have a few more questions! The first being, is thinking about a sin or wanting to sin enough to earn yourself a place in hell? Using an extreme example, if you want to murder but don't to try and please God, would God still consider you...

What is God without a universe?

Then where does God come in to the equation if matter was always there? Surely you are not arguing God is made of matter? How would you then go from your rationalisation that God is somehow the Big Bang, to a personal God who is watching you with care and set fire to bushes etc?

What did someone tell you that prompted you to become a believer?

Sorry, I thought you would clock my username. I was being fasetious in my reply as I have formed the opinion that much of theism revolves around a fear of death, wishful thinking and poor education as a child. It is certainly not a coincidence that Jews has jewish kids, Muslims have Muslim kids...

What is God without a universe?

Sorry but you haven’t really said anything other than you believe in God with those statements. E=MC2 does indeed show that energy is equal to Mass X the speed of light, squared and yes potentially if the mass of the universe could be measured and you multiplied it then you would get a very big...

What is God without a universe?

I forgot about this thread until I was prompted by a similar thread. Elopez I am not sure you are really answering my questions, as I asked what state God would have to be in before he apparently created the universe. As I am arguing that it makes no sense to be claimed a God with nothing in...

    Where did God come from?

You have gotten pretty much the only answer you will get. If you believe God created everything, then you cannot believe that anything could exist without a God. edit to add, I asked a similar question and got nowhere http://www.christianforums.com/t7652153/

What did someone tell you that prompted you to become a believer?

If you don't believe in God you will burn in hell, if you reject God then you are no son of mine.

Does God ever not comfort you?

Hi Mindfulness I wanted to reply to your comments in my other thread, or even pm you but I cannot do either. I know nothing I can say to you will change anything at all, I am more interested in why you are so angry. I am also very curious in whether you can also enjoy the irony of threatening...

What is God without a universe?

I admire your attempts at using physics to answer this bizarre question criticalthought, but I have the feeling it is going to be purely philosophical. I also admire your no nonsense answer, but you are missing the point of my question. What I am trying to say is, without a universe to be the...

What is God without a universe?

The concept of time is confusing, but since Chrsitians very firmly assert that God is real and timeless, it seems reasonable to question this. So maybe it is irrelevant to you, but surely anything about understanding God is important? I don't see what angels have to do with this, but if they did...

What is God without a universe?

But doesn't the fact that you say he created the universe imply that at some point in time, there was no universe? So if God IS the universe, then how can god be timeless?

What is God without a universe?

I hear a lot of random statements made about God, that he is omnipotent, omniscient, timeless and so on. But before he supposedly made everything, what meaning did his existence actually have? This is kind of a spin off question regarding the ‘chicken and the egg’ situation of the big bang and...

    Christian hate & insanity

Thanks for your replies, but I cannot answer much of it without repeating myself from earlier in this thread. But I can't help commenting on the brainwashing part, when has anyone been sat down and force-fed information about evolution? That is what churches were built for. There are two...

    Christian hate & insanity

The church does spend a lot of money trying to get more kids involved, it is openly admitted that they try to indoctrinate kids as young as possible. I disapprove of kids being told what they should believe, I don’t see how calling someone a ‘Christian chid’ is any different...

    Christian hate & insanity

I can only deduce that you are implying that Satan has influenced what is written in the Bible. I have never heard this before, but if following the Bible to the word leads to the opposite of God then surely that is what you mean? How do you then determine if something is divinely inspired or a...
