Would you kill someone if God told you to?

In relation to this thread, I happened to come across a similar thread in General Theology (I'm not allowed to post there though). http://www.christianforums.com/t7639033/ Is 98cwitr for real, or is he trolling? I honestly cannot tell.

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

I don't always disagree. If I agree with something I'll say so, as I have done in the past. I'm looking for things "to click". If that makes sense. I come from a Biblical-literalist Fundie background and stayed mostly in Evangelical churches. Seeing what some of the more liberal Christians...

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

I've read a lot of apologetics on the problem of evil and I'm still sceptical that an all powerful, all knowing, totally benevolent God would all the amount of suffering we have in the world today. A self-professed ex-Christian? So you're saying I'm lying and really a Christian? OK, that's...

    Obesity

Neither would I. Many of the Christians here treat non-believers like the ignorant spawns of Satan. In fact, now that I think about it, I've actually been treated better on the English speaking Islamic forums I've been to than I have here. Anyway, I apologise to the Muslim OP if I caused...

    Hybrid Christians

Nearly all Christians take things out of the Bible that they like and leave the rest. But this is understandable given that obeying everything in the Bible is impossible. As Ned Flanders once said, "I’ve done everything the Bible says — even the stuff that contradicts the other...

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

I used to go to Pentecostal and non-denominational Charismatic churches and the amount of Christians who claimed to hear from God regularly surprised me. "The Lord said to me..." "The other day while I was praying God said..." My parents used to be like this too. My mum still is, but she's...

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

What's wrong with following the good things Jesus taught? Just because I'm agnostic doesn't mean I reject everything in the Bible.

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

Statistically speaking, you're probably more likely to get killed by a schizophrenic than you are a religious person. This is why I can't understand the West's paranoia about religious terrorism. Yes, we need to defend ourselves as nations, but airport scanning? Phone tapping? Detention...

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

I'm actually more encouraged by the amount of Christians who said no. However, it is disturbing that some people believe that if a voice told them to go and kill someone, they would. These people need to read the Gospels a bit more and leave the killing up to God.

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

I don't really care about breaking Godwin's Law. Comparing one genocide to another for the purpose of debating the moral implications is necessary. And I only resort to these comparisons because they should be just as shocking for the human mind to grasp as the Flood of Noah. Anyway, I...

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

I'm well aware that God commanded Noah to build the Ark. Also, I'm discussing the story, as if it were true because most Christians themselves believe it to be true. I don't personally believe it is a true story, but it's there in the Bible and is therefore up for debate like everything else...

    God is Predictable

I think you may be right on this.

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

You know what I meant Raze. I was talking about Nephilim (giant) fossils. According to Genesis 6:5 which you quote above, the purpose of the Flood was just to wipe out sinners. I'm not sure how many people would have been alive on the planet at that time, possibly millions, or maybe hundreds...

Would you kill someone if God told you to?

According to Numbers, the Nephilim apparently survived the flood and continued to breed with women. So your argument here is just not valid at all. What wickedness were these people doing that people today do not do? I suspect that most of the people during the time of the supposed flood...

Another question from a different thread.

I knew a lot of terrible Christians at church, and that made me leave church. I didn't leave Christianity itself until 4 or 5 years after I stopped going to church. And I left Christianity because I found there was no evidence for any of its claims. I'm not promoting an agenda. I will try...

    God is Predictable

Just as a further response to topics discussed on Page 2, I found the latest news on the search for the Higgs-Boson; Strong hints of the Higgs boson from Tevatron particle collider in US | Science | guardian.co.uk

Should I become a Christian on the basis of this response then?

    God is Predictable

I think he's saying that those Christian fundies you talked about are agnostic, in that they don't know how God will behave. I'm agnostic, meaning I believe we cannot truly know (at this stage of our collective understanding of the sciences) whether God exists or not.

    God is Predictable

BBC News - Faster-than-light neutrinos could be down to bad wiring It was the neutrino breaking the speed of light that you're thinking of. Nothing to do with Higgs-Boson. If you read the BBC story, the latest speculation is that the neutrino didn't break light speed; it was faulty wiring...

    God is Predictable

Good point actually. So from this we can argue that since God is predictable, in that he consistently avoids any observable testing of his existence, he therefore must exist! On a serious note though, is there actually a good reason why God won't reveal himself in an observable or testable...
