Bible Exam - Help Me Get Ordained!

Question: What version translates Ge. 4:1 as "love" (that would be quite odd). Note: The Hebrew word "Ahab" is very often used for love that is not "unconditional," it is used far more broadly. It is the word used in Gen. 27:4 (below);additionally, the word used in Ge. 20:13 (hesed) is often...

The Advent of Heresy: Calvin Investigated

As you have correctly noted, Gen. 2:16 is specifically referenced in the 2nd definition. i.e. "to charge, to command" Note: You had originally said: And then responded with: After looking at the full definition, it is clear that you had misunderstood Gesenius. First, the Lexicon doesn't...

Often quoted, almost always misunderstood! (2 Chr. 7:14)

Solomon prayed that God would bring a plague against his people so that they would be humbled and return to their God, and God's responses was an acknowledgement that he would do this. When this verse is cited (especially during the last political season), people ignore the first half of the...

The Advent of Heresy: Calvin Investigated

I think there is something you are misunderstanding in Gesenius. Can you provide a reference? Note: the root צוה is the primary verb used to communicate the idea of "command" and the noun from this verb מצוה is the primary word used for "commandment." Both are used in the following verse: So...

    Universalism...why not?

I see that you present the views of the early church just as accurately as you did the references from the Greek Lexicons.

    Universalism...why not?

It is not used in a plural form in Ps. 139! Would you like to cite any Hebrew scholar who supports your conclusion? NIDOTTE states under the article on עולם "Dan 12:2 predicts that after the final conflict between the saints and the forces of the evil king, many off those who sleep in the...

    National Go Topless Day

It is just as appropriate to pretend that those are the standards for your belief as it is to pretend that Scripture is the standard for your beliefs. Why not be honest and acknowledge that you do not look to Scripture, the Quran, or the Bhagavad Gita as a standard when deciding your views on...

    A new heresy???

No, just pointing out that when you said, "Joachim not Yehoyakim" you were speaking of two names that have the exact same spelling in Hebrew I.e. they are different transliterations of the same name!

Out of curiosity, how would would you translate the phrase: כי לעולם חסדו (used a dozen times in Ps. 139). Do you think that "His love endures for a limited period of time" is valid? Note: The JPS and Revised JPS both translate "OLAM" as eternal in Daniel 12:2

Christ or Antichrist: Who makes a covenant with many in Dan.9:27?

While I think there are a number of arguments that support the idea that the antichrist is intended. This is not one of them. In the preceding verse the antecedent is not "the coming prince" it is "the people of the coming prince" (עַ֣ם נָגִ֤יד הַבָּא). Taking away the construct noun (עַ֣ם)...

    Jesus is Yahweh

I think it is important to remember that while YHWH is used for all the members of the Trinity, the name Jesus is used specifically for only one member, as is the Father, and the Holy Spirit. Yes YHWH did all of these things, and as a member of the Trinity Jesus participated (but not alone).

Sadly, many evangelical missionaries (some working on translations of the bible) are also very confused on this point. http://biblicalmissiology.org/2017/05/08/heartbroken-over-what-is-happening-in-bible-translation-part-1-al-kalima-and-the-wea/

    Jesus is Yahweh

And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the LORD (YHWH) shall be saved. (Joel 2:32 ESV) But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is...

    Jesus is Yahweh

Oh, taste and see that the LORD (YHWH) is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! (Ps. 34:8 ESV) if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, (1 Pet. 2:3-4 ESV) This is one of a...
