[Open] Support thread for non-punitive households (Please NO DEBATE)

:( I remember being there - being afraid to go anywhere - hours of crying. I'm sorry, Leanna. It will get better, but I know when you're in the middle of it, it can seem hopelessly never ending. Is she doing any better on the medication? Thanks everyone for the input about Grace. I'll...

    HOW do you NIP?

That's always how I feel too. I feel much less conspicuous without trying to cover baby and me up.

    Induction Scheduled

Karla, I've not been on for a very long time until recently. I didn't know you were pregnant. Congratulations!! Hope the little one decides to come out soon.

    I feel just awful

Don't feel bad. Your babe is lucky that she has a mama who goes to her when she's crying....even if mama is feeling tired and frustrated. :)

    HOW do you NIP?

I don't use anything special or go anywhere different. I just pop him on. You really can't see anything.

New Creation - I hear you with the biting and hair pulling. Jonas is 9.5 months and just got his bottom teeth a few weeks ago. There have only been a couple occasions where he's bit me while nursing, and I say "OW! That hurts mama." He always looks so shocked. I resume nursing with him, and he...

    [Open] Cloth Diaper Poll

I didn't vote because my choice wasn't on the poll. I prefer fitted to pockets or AIOs. We use Kissaluvs and a couple WAHM brands with wool covers. I also have Indian Prefolds on hand but generally only use them when I run out of the fitteds. My guy is a wiggle worm, so it's not the easiest...

    The Day Your Baby Came?

I was taking an herbal formula for a couple weeks prior to my due date. He was born the day before he was due. Whether that was due to the herbs, I can't say for sure.

Hi Shannon! I didn't know it was you, but now I know why I liked all your posts so much in this thread! :) It should have rung a bell when you were talking about Bernadette, as I remember you mentioning her in the past, and it's not a very common name. Hi Katelyn! Leanna, I...

[Open] Support thread for non-punitive households (Please NO DEBATE)

Hi Ladies. I've probably been on CF a total of five times in the last nine months. I was very pleased to find this thread when I decided to log back in today, as I had previously been feeling like I didn't have much in common with a lot of moms and dads on the parenting forum here. In my limited...

    Can someone explain...

It just depends. Oftentimes the bag doesn't break until you've been laboring for somtime. My midwife broke mine about 13 hours into active labor. Occasionally a baby is even delivered with the bag still intact. If it does break on its own, it may happen suddenly or it may just leak.

    'Book' Parents

I had definite ideas about how I wanted to parent - certain things that seemed right to me, and I later found that my ideas did fit in with a specific philosophy of parenting. I have read a few books. I haven't approached the books as "how to" manuals, but I have found them valuable as a...

    she is so irritating

Just wanted to encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. Some little babes just need more security and closeness than others. She's still so young. As I type one-handed, I'm holding Jonas while he sleeps. As he's gotten older, I've been able to put him down for naps more often, but...

    Christians and spanking?

I agree with everyone who says take your concern to the pastor. That book does not sound appropriate for a church library. BTW, I really enjoyed Grace Based Parenting too.

Or Indian Prefolds. They are yummy soft.

I had it until about 17 weeks. You should be feeling better soon.

    is baby hungry?

If she's hungry she'll probably start sucking a fist or nuzzling you or smacking her lips before she gets to the crying stage. I think it's good that you anticipate her needs and you don't wait until she starts crying to feed her. You could look for cues like the above so that you know she does...

    [open] Useless baby/kid stuff

It will really depend on your babe and your lifestyle. For instance, we have a very hands on approach, so we co-sleep. DS has never used his crib once. Though we plan on using it when he's older (it converts into a toddler bed), we could easily have gotten by without it. We have a bouncy...

    [open] crying it out

We don't do, and won't do, CIO. But even if we did, I would say it's developmentally inappropriate at 2 months. The first few months of life, babies are just trying to figure out how to be in the world. They went from a perfectly warm, comfortable, safe environment, where all of their needs...
