    Liberal Judaism?

So getting back to my original statement, this is why my rebbe is appreciative of how the Reform synagogues take in gentiles. Unlike an orthodox synagogue, there is no pressure for them to adopt a culture of observance, and because of the high rate of intermarraige etc., there are also plenty...

    Liberal Judaism?

Many synagogues are not comfortable having them around, because who are they going to marry? They can't marry a Jew.

    Liberal Judaism?

Well most human being do need a religious community for support and fellowship. One of the drawbacks of the Noahide movement is that they have had no place to go. Anyhow, sometimes they do convert eventually, and sometimes they don't. Either way is fine.

    Liberal Judaism?

My rebbe looks at Reform synagogues as basically very good congregations for reaching out to and supporting "Righteous Gentiles" (aka noahides, aka G-d Fearers).

    Women rabbis

I have no problem with a woman being granted Semicha. However, her title is Rabbah, NOT Rabbi. Why? Because women and men are different. A stewardess is different from a steward. A Mrs. is different from a Mr. I am sick to death of people trying to say that unless I walk like a man, talk...

Judaism: culture, customs, traditions, rituals and festivals

Don't read more into it than the obvious. The rules of the forum prevent us from replying.

Judaism: culture, customs, traditions, rituals and festivals

Can't. In my experience, if I try to clarify the teachings of Judaism, the mods remove the post and ding me for promoting Judaism. If you have a specific question, you are welcome to PM me so that we don't disrupt the forum.

Eddie Long and the Torah Scroll

Sadly, this scripture is all too appropos. The good men you listed are a cut above. It seems to be the consensus in this forum that Messer was not simply a cut beneath, but a different cloth entirely.

    Music of Ralph Vaughan-Williams

I could sing before I could talk. I'm mezzo soprano, and usually sing the alto part. I began learning piano when I was five, and most of my paid gigs were as a pianist or keyboardists -- I used to play at weddings almost every weekend before I had my kids. I'm not a prodigy, but yeah I do have...

Eddie Long and the Torah Scroll

I certainly agree with you that some people respond very poorly to the anonymity of the internet, and say all sorts of things they would never say in real life. I've seen it a wee bit in myself -- in real life I NEVER swear (when I loose my temper, I tell people to shut up, and then feel bad...

Eddie Long and the Torah Scroll

Adopting personas is not dishonest. We all wear different hats depending on where we are and who we are with. Far from being a lie, a persona is simply developing a part of yourself that is weaker but necessary. For example, I like having things organized and scheduled, but I'm a musician...

I am lost. And in a very far land.

LOL, for pretending to read minds. I'm a highly empathic, intuitive person, and I often know what someone else is feeling before they are even aware of it themselves. BUT, I have been know to, er..., make mistakes on occasion. :D

I am lost. And in a very far land.

It's the little wee things like being on time for a 9:00 appointment with the Rabbi and waiting five hours while he takes phone calls. I think one only survives the process if one is incredibly stubborn, or especially resiliant, or (like me) a total nutter.

    "Kosher Jesus"

I probably shouldn't have assumed everyone knew that one of the books he wrote is titled, "Kosher Adultery." The title is just a shtick. The book is really about married couples reinvigorating their sex lives by reintroducing such things as seduction and jealousy. It really is a fabulous book.
