A friend that is closer than a brother?

It's talking about superficial relationships and building meaningful connections with other people that can be stronger than familial ties. For me, I'm closer to my best friend than I am with my own brother, but I'm also careful about who I call a friend.

    For love of KJV

I started out with KJV when I was a kid but had a really hard time understanding it. Today I use a combination of CSB, ESV, and NASB. Language changes over time and the KJV is a nice translation, but unfortunately, it's not something that's easily relatable to modern linguistics.

    What is the primordial darkness?

The creation story can certainly be used as a metaphorical parallel for the salvation story. However, my opinion is that reducing the Genesis creation story to a metaphor devalues the work of God in setting our universe in motion. A metaphorical creation story in the Bible is no different from...

    God Has No Meaning

God must possess meaning to give meaning. He cannot give what he does not have. And since there is nothing God cannot give, then God cannot be without meaning.

The Reason I have some Resentment towards many Protestants and Schismatic Catholics

In my personal opinion, this is one of the Catholic Church's biggest failings. There is too much emphasis placed on human leadership and morality. Humans are flawed and sinful creatures, so expecting high morality from even the most celebrated religious leaders is a fool's errand. I'm not...

    X is my favourite bible.

I used the ESV for over a decade before recently switching to the CSB. I like the more natural flow of the language, but still flip back between CSB, ESV, and NASB depending on what I'm studying.

    Prayer for healing

Lifting up prayers your way. I suffered from something similar (along with a throat-clearing tic) and managed to control it with a Magnesium supplement. Praying that God grants you healing and relief!

Communist Rag "The Guardian" totally stoked on Christians becoming minority in America

These rags can barely predict what's going to happen in the next few months with any sense of accuracy, which makes me seriously doubt their ability to predict religious trends in the next 50 years. I'd suggest it's best to ignore the propaganda and continue focusing on the most important thing...

I'm starting to change my mind about the End Times (help!)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. Eschatology is one of my favorite theological disciplines, but through all the theories and belief structures, it's most important to focus on the ultimate reign of Christ.

    Are there dolphins in heaven?

Agreed. I should have said that we're not just our bodies. I remember believing that Heaven was some disembodied experience where we're all floating in the clouds with God, but the Bible is much clearer on the physical presence we'll have in resurrected bodies. I also agree that it's strange how...

Gender ideologies and the need for Christian anthropology

None of it makes sense and personally, it's heartbreaking and head scratching. The argument is basically: - Gender is a social construct. - Anyone can play with dolls, but if a boy plays with dolls then he's probably transgender. - Anyone can play with trucks, but if a girl dresses like a boy...

I'm starting to change my mind about the End Times (help!)

There's an entire sub forum dedicated to Eschatology. You should check it out because it has some crazy cool stuff! I have my own thoughts about the end times, but some of the research done by scholars and people here on the forums itself is incredible. Best of luck in finding your way...

    Are there dolphins in heaven?

We are not our bodies. Our memories, our hopes, our dreams, and everything else that makes us who we are is tied to our soul. Our bodies will perish, but we will live on with Christ in the renewed Kingdom (Matthew 19:28-30). It wouldn't be possible for us to live on with Him if we were a bunch...

    Are there dolphins in heaven?

The Bible tells us that He is a graceful, merciful, and loving God. Therefore, I believe in sitting with Jesus under a bacon tree talking about the universe and watching a brilliant sunset. :)

    Are there dolphins in heaven?

No animals? No memories? No seas? So many people are apt to make Heaven sound ridiculously boring and hollow. God doesn't function in a box. Whatever he created on earth, He's perfectly capable of creating in Heaven!

    Church Pushing Us Away...

It breaks my heart to read things like this. Too many churches cherry-pick sins and turn people away without taking time to show the grace and mercy that God has shown to us. I can understand their apprehension about marrying you, but I don't agree that they should flat-out refuse. Some...

Diversity Is For The Little People

Personally, I hope this is an opportunity for the church to do what it does best: show God's love and grace through helping others. I mean this both for the migrants arriving in places like Martha's Vineyard and for the residents of those places who have spent their lives on Twitter and Reddit...

    The Matt Chandler Situation

I haven't studied in-depth all the things that happened with this, but from what I've read, I'm on the fence over whether he should have stepped down or not. Being able to admit to your faults in such a public way takes courage. he could have confessed and stayed on, especially if there was no...

Has the Big Bang Theory Been Debunked?

Just a quick thought... It might seem like semantics, but it's important to remember that the Big Bang event did not create matter or energy. Instead, it was a release of all matter and energy in the universe from a single point in space/time (the primordial singularity). Everything that has...
