    The earthly lineage of Jesus

We were discussing the first chapter of Matthew yesterday and a question came up about Joseph being a step father and not the blood relative of Jesus. Why is Joseph's lineage outlined rather than Mary's as she is at least earthly bloodkin? How does this account in Matthew marry with the Son of...

    Holy Communion

Thanks for your answers. In the end we discussed the Lord's Supper and your quote from 1 Corinthians was emphasised, that one should examine one's heart before partaking of the Lord's Supper. We did not take Communion. And to others, no I have never had communion from an Altar Boy, it has...

    Holy Communion

Our housegroup leader offered to take communion at our next meeting. I have given some thought to this and I don't know whether it's because of my Anglican roots, but I am not comfortable with taking communion from someone who isn't ordained as a 'proper' minister. I have been attending a...

    Euthenasia

Our Pastor brought up this subject in his sermon yesterday and it really made me think because I have always been sympathetically inclined to those whose lack of quality of life and pain has made them consider euthenasia. Quite a few are going to Switzerland to achieve this. I can also...

    Contagious Christian

I apologise if this has been referred to before but I have searched the site and cannot find any direct reference to the course on Becoming a Contagious Christian. I have put it on another forum but haven't had any replies. Our church is about to undertake this course and I have bought the...

    Good Contemporary Christian Fiction

How do folks feel about the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye. I'm absolutely enthralled by them.

    Contagious Christian

I apologise if this has been referred to before but I have searched the site and cannot find any direct reference to the course on Becoming a Contagious Christian. Our church is about to undertake this course and I have bought the book and the participant's guide on it to see what it's all...

    The First Coming of Christ

I've asked this question on Christian History but no one has replied so thought I'd move forums. Can someone explain to me why Christ came 2000 years ago and not before, nor after that time. What was happening at that time that made it imperative for God to send His Son? We seem to have more...

Why was Christ sent to earth 2000 years ago?

Why then and not before or after? Is there any reference as to why God decided that was the time?

God created man in God's image?

Juvennison, would you mind looking at my other post on Christian Scriptures forum regarding prophecy on the second coming of Christ if you have any answers on that post please, thanks

God created man in God's image?

My question related to the physical image not the divine image, though that has given me something else to think about. According to the Scriptures Adam was made in God's likeness. But surely science is gradually proving that human form has descended from the primitive people/hominids...

God created man in God's image?

The implication is that God's image is replicated in modern mankind, but that is my query. Why do you bring in fossilisation? God is eternal.

God created man in God's image?

At what point in evolution please? We are hearing about homo sapiens deriving from homo erectus and scientific proof of age that this was happening. I have tried to search on the forum as I assume it has been asked before but can't find it.

Old Testament and the Second coming of Christ

The OT frequently mentions the coming of the Messiah but where does it mention that the Messiah will come twice? I know there is a mention in Daniel about the Son of God descending on a cloud at the end times but not that this is the second coming.

    The second coming of Christ

ps. Sorry LittlelambofJesus, I don't understand your references. I find them very difficult to read with relevance to the comments you quote from others.

    The second coming of Christ

But why, therefore, does God let it get to this stage. You mention the Anti Christ. That has opened my eyes. I knew it was likely to be a sinful period but never his reign!

    Souls

Something I've always wondered too. However only those who accept Jesus Christ as Saviour are, according to the Scriptures, able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. As creatures have no concept of Jesus Christ it seems illogical that they will be allowed. A great pity as far as I am concerned.

    Evil maybe dont exist.

I had a thought that the only evil is in mankind. We make our own evil. Following on from that there is no Satan or demons just our own intrinsic ability to create evil. And we are saved from our evil by the shedding of blood by Jesus Christ. This does mean, of course, that if the most evil...

What should one expect from a Bible Studies Group?

I believed it to have more substance than a 'coffee morning'! Not necessarily strictly theological, although Wayseer's post has made me think. But to me study means study. I know it is difficult when a group get together without it becoming somewhat off base and it needs a good chairperson to...
