    What's new in Wikileaks?

A lot of what's been released is such trivial tittle tattle that I wonder why the authors considered it necessary to hide it from us in the first place. Quite pathetic really. I guess it gives some of them a greater sense of self-importance - knowing something they think the rest of us don't...

    Stock market?

An update: My progress did sag - I struggled to hang onto the initial gains and it took me more than a month to then start making further progress, but things are going nicely now. At the end of this tenth week I am approximately 11% up on what i started with.

    Why are YOU single???

I was born single. Most of us were. Being single doesn't require a reason - it comes naturally. Surely it's NOT being single that requires a reason? Procreation might be one such reason. But - technically at least - that doesn't require more than a momentary connection (nor even that these...

Using old shoes as plant holders

Thanks for that link, JTP. I have some images of other old shoes I nailed to a wall and filled with plants about 18 years ago at a previous address but they are prints off 35mm film. I will see if I can scan them to work online.

Why is it so popular to slam the Bible?

The Bible is only a book. It really doesn't deserve the sacred status that its followers fervently attach to it. And as books go, it is a real mess. A shambles. Riddled with contradictions and sometimes horrendous advice - which its obsessive followers (as might be expected) dream up...

Using old shoes as plant holders

I have set up an album within my profile, and posted two images. They show a pair of shoes shortly after planting - so that the fixings are still visible. I will try and find some later images showing the plants after they grew more.

Using old shoes as plant holders

I will try and find some photos of examples of ones I've planted up.

    Stock market?

Or maybe twice a month! So far so good. I am doing this with a very small sum of money - and so far it hasn't gotten any smaller. My gain after 13 trading days is just under 5% (4.943%). There's every possibility of course that my luck (if that's what it is) will turn the other way over the...

Your country needs you, says David Cameron

The vast majority of the land in Britain is owned and controlled by a very small handful of people. Not a word from Cameron addressing this issue. But with some of these biggest landowners being suppliers of funds to his party, I guess his insistence on seeking "a fairer Britain" doesn't extend...

    Stock market?

I've just set aside a sum for a 12-month endeavour involving over 40 stocks on the London stockmarket. I'm not going to log my trades routinely here, but I hope to report progress about once a month.

    BREAKING: Jimmy Carter hospitalized

I agree. Whatever people might regard as deficciencies in his stance on whatever, he has done more good in his lfe than half a dozen other ex-presidents lumped together.

    Stock market?

If you truly believer that "End is nigh" statement, you presumably see no point in hanging onto any monetary savings or investments that you possess. In which case, can I have them please?

    My Tagline Challenge

Yep. My answer would be the same as Pesto's. But one point, AV, which might be worth a mention; the word science comes from the latin 'scientia', meaning knowledge. A rejection of knowledge sounds awfully like a preference for ignorance. Do you seriously favour that as a sensible attitude?

Electric cars are all the rage in Israel

I am old enough to recall Ford telling us in 1973 that hydrogen cars were just around the corner. Falling for that line ensures that gasoline engines remain in use , to the delight of the oil companies. More than 35 years later, believers in hydrogen still tell us that hydrogen transport is just...

    The Atheist Symbol

Applying contrived meanings appears to be what some religious folk spend a lifetime doing. Whether it be to obsolete old book pages, to aspects of nature, or whatever. Personally I'm not the least bit bothered by the symbol or by what people choose to read into it :) I am more of a rainbow...

Electric cars are all the rage in Israel

I didn't say you will find EVs in such use. I said that such fleets are ideal for EV use. Japan Post have reached that conclusion are have started their switchover. La Poste in France are heading the same way. In the UK, Royal Mail are still trialling EVs - but as an ex-postie myself, I know...

Electric cars are all the rage in Israel

With the present range of battery powered cars I agree. But on any long trip, you have to fill up with diesel or gasoline every few hundred miles. We already have trucks in which the battery pack can be swung out and swapped for a fresh one, using a forklift truck, taking about 15 minutes per...
