Is it possible to make the Bible an idol?

I am not claiming that. Let me phrase the question differently. Is it possibly to study the Bible, the written word, memorize it, interpret it, and live that out (based on what you think you know) while not acknowledging the living Word?

Is it possible to make the Bible an idol?

Are you being intentionally vague? Why do you pick and choose which questions to answer? At the very least you could tell me my questions are bad questions and explain why.

Is it possible to make the Bible an idol?

Can you please explain what you mean then? What does it mean to sever the Spirit from the Word? What Spirit are you talking about? What Word? How are they inseparable?

Is it possible to make the Bible an idol?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean? Are you saying that everyone that reads the Bible is guided by the Holy Spirit?

Is it possible to make the Bible an idol?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I'm not talking about disobedience, saying that you love someone but not doing what they ask. Your example doesn't really fit. It would be more like your mom leaves you a list of things. You decide that all you need is that list and nothing else. You...

Is it possible to make the Bible an idol?

Can scripture be elevated above God? Is it possible to worship what God says rather than worship God Himself?

    Evolution of Adam

Has anyone here read "The Evolution of Adam" by Peter Enns? I'm about 2 or 3 chapters in and it seems like he sides with critical scholarship a little more than most people would probably be comfortable with. I'm not exactly sure what I think about it, still have quite a way to go. Does...

Do not awaken love until it pleases

I have thought and prayed about all of those things that you said. I believe I am ready for marriage, but I don't know if she is, or if she wants to think about us having that sort of relationship. I guess what I am saying is that I believe God is leading both of us to be friends at this...

Do not awaken love until it pleases

I'm not really sure what you are trying to say... 1. I'm not looking to emotionally rely on a girlfriend...if that is the case then I am certainly not ready for a relationship. I would hope that I would be relying on Christ. Just because someone else comes into my life doesn't mean they are...

Do not awaken love until it pleases

Hi everyone, I was wondering what you thought this verse means? It seems like it is specifically directed towards women but do you think men could benefit from it as well? The reason I ask is because I am interested in a girl but I don't know her that well so I'd like to get to know her better...

    Is non-resistance biblical?

Ok, but where does forgiveness end? Is it possible to forgive someone and shoot them in self-defense?

    Is non-resistance biblical?

So are you saying that every law is ordained by God and therefore should be followed as if God give it to us?

    Adam's Comtemporaries

Is this assuming that Adam was an actual person and that God chose a couple out of a large group of Homo Sapiens to give souls? This seems to only apply to one of many Theistic Evolution theories.

    Is non-resistance biblical?

Harry, I've already agreed that turning the other cheek is about insults. I've been thinking about it though. Maybe non-resistance isn't exactly my question. Perhaps non-violence is more of what I was wondering. You can resist without being violent...anyways, I'm still not convinced that...

    Is non-resistance biblical?

It doesn't, it says that your question is irrelevant... unless you can explain why it should matter?

    Is non-resistance biblical?

The way I look at it we should follow what God says, that's all that matters. If man's laws line up with the Bible then that's great, if they contradict it then we should ignore them.

    Is non-resistance biblical?

That would be a good place to start, but I'm asking what is right in God's eyes, not man's.

    Is non-resistance biblical?

If it is OK to kill people in certain circumstances how can we know when these circumstances are?

    Is non-resistance biblical?

How can we be sure that our killing in the name of God is good?

    Is non-resistance biblical?

Murdering, killing, whats the difference? The only difference I see is that killing is supposedly justified because people agree it is.
