    LCMS's illegal land grab

Interesting how you all said that Otten would be the kiss-of-death for Harrison. Seems like you all spoke too soon.

    Semper Reformanda

Yep---Seajoys right. Even your own group thinks you want to be like the secular word so they are even leaving. Pedophiles are even thinking about joining since they like the way the E**A can justify anything.

    Confessional Lutherans

That's a great start but if you go to a Bible class like Dunstan sugested I might suggest that you do a bible study through the pastor. I have seen some very questionable bible studies in the last few years that are run by laity or elders. Even the pastors studies sometime need to be monitored.

    conservative and liberal "attitudes"

Luther made a division between earthly matters and spiritual matters by addressing it in 2 distict categories. Here's alink to that, Two Kingdoms | The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod

    conservative and liberal "attitudes"

"Cop and attitude" was probably over stated but it's easier for me to make blanket statements when it applies to "most" liberals, not all. I'm more into black and white and not shades of gray.

    time to part

I'm going back to my original conclusion and say we diffinitely need 2 seperate forums. One labeled "Liberal Lutherans" and another labeled "Conservative Lutherans" or something like that. I don't want to see liberals in the conservative forum because it's enough just dealing with visitors and...

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (10)

I just filled my 32 ounce mug about half full of coffee, then some splenda, milk and ice. The ice just barely cooled it off. My DW wanted me to try some Gavalia coffee from Sweden (I think it's Sweden) It fairly good but I like Eight-O-Clock coffee right off the shelf. Drank that for years...

    Confessional Lutherans

The only way to read any theological tretis is looking at it through the eyes of the Bible. Make sure you have a "good " bible. The reformed and RCC bibles would probably not be the best sources. Then when you see a reference to a bible verse go read it and much of the surrounding text. The...

    conservative and liberal "attitudes"

I'm not sure that we aren't saying the same thing. Maybe you are answering someone else. Perhaps Tangible from the first page? I made a blanket statement and you just fleshed it out somewhat and blurred some lines.

    President Harrison

:thumbsup: Considering that most resolutions and ammendments to the Constitution and bylaws were submitted to consolidate more power to the admin I would say yours was a major accomplishment.

    conservative and liberal "attitudes"

Legalism and love. The Bible says, in a loose translation, that if a person is going to sin or has sinned against you or anyone else you should go and try to point them to the cross and repentence. If they refuse then take 2 congregents etc.etc. This all done in a loving way. This is not...

    conservative and liberal "attitudes"

So you think that conservatives are White supremicist racist, bible thumpers. Interesting. Anyway you have conservatives all wrong when you say they "cop" an attitude and then find Bible verses to support it. It the other way around. We see the world through the eyes of the bible. Liberals are...

    Lutherans

We got back from Germany a month ago and did the Lutheran thing and followed Luther's life through Gerrmany. It was bitter-sweet. The majestic cathedrals and churches that attested to Luther's battle to bring a reconciliaion between the RCC and Biblical truths and the immencity of the...

    Lutherans

Some good points here. Some pastors need to remember why they are accepting a call to a congregation. They are to be servants to their parrishoners and are not called to be CEOs and run the church. Swallowing pride and learning humility would be the Christlike position to take. Only when they...

    very bothersom

Just use DaRev's analogy. Someone gives you a gift. It is already given. The bible says that God's grace (eternal life), in the form of a gift, is given freely. The only thing we can do is reject it. You can't/don't ask for a gift, it is freely given. The key word here is "gift". Calvin had no...

What God does to men that won't be God pleasing.

And that is why I posted these passages. God gives promises to mankind. Some are positive, some are negative. This is a warning and then a promise that if men (especially Isreal) don't come back to God and fullfill their famial obligations then they will have these curses of kids backtalking...

    Anybody reading anything worth sharing?

I found some books that I want to read that expose Barth's Neo-Orthodoxy as abberant philosophy with no true real theological benefit. One is Cornelius Van Til's "The New Modernism" and Olav Valen=Sendstad's "The Word That Can Never Die" Plus excerpts from "The Christian Handbook on Vital...
