    What did you eat today?

Didn't eat throughout the day, apart from a Red Bull. For dinner I ended up having part of a vegetarian from Dominos. Next Friday the church is having a catfish fry so since it's usually pretty good I'll probably eat that.

    PS4 vs Xbox One

I bought an Xbox One, I've stuck with Xbox from the start and I figure I shouldn't switch now. Xbox Live is also a factor, even though you have to pay for it It's much better than than Playstation Network. It seems that the PS4 will be plagued by the same problems as the PS3 as well. Delayed...

Nun has baby--didn't know she was pregnant

For all practical purposes this is true. However, a egg can spontaneously divide and start the process that creates a baby, but the embryo will die within a week. The only way parthenogenesis can result in a viable baby is for a huge number of unlikely factors to all align.

Jesuit-run university to host lecture by excommunicated, laicized priest

Why give the man a platform at a Catholic institution? Let him speak at Harvard divinity school or something.

Can Oklahoma Keep a Satanic Statue off Its Capitol Lawn?

Rest assured even if it does get put there it will definitely be vandalized.

A fun 1995 Newsweek article on why the internet won't take-off.

Well technology has a habit of speeding up, then plateauing (well it slows down somewhat since it never really stops), and then speeding up again. So while I would disagree with him that the electronics revolution is at an end, it may very well be slowing down somewhat.

    Was the Historical Jesus White?

Middle Eastern can mean everything from so brown it's almost black to as pale as a Scandinavian.

When was the last time you cried & why?

Since I've passed the age of 12 the only times I've actually cried has been when a close family member has died, and the last time would have been a little under a year ago.

If you knew it would not kill you...

They last roughly about 1-2 minutes longer than your standard Marlboro Red, but what those American Spirits really shined in was the fact that they didn't "smoke themselves" really quickly like Reds did if you weren't dragging on them.

The Pope is starting to distance himself from the progressives who have been...

I don't know about others, but I've always knew the Pope wasn't a liberal like some thought he was. You on the other hand have been backpedaling your "change hope" for the Pope in recent threads about him.

    About Mithraism

You could just point out that Mithraism was just one of a long line of Pagan Mystery Cults. There were the Dionysian Mysteries, Orphism, the Eleusinian Mysteries, the Mysteries of Isis, and the god Serapis. The last one was directly in conflict with Christians in Alexandria, until a mob led by...

    Anglican Christmas hymns>

I love all the old Christmas hymns, in fact getting to sing them is my favorite part of the Christmas masses. Adeste Fidelis is also pretty much the only hymn where I think the English translation is better than the Latin original. Occasionally, like last Sunday, we use hymns from the "Lutheran...

    Anglican Christmas hymns>

Is Adeste Fidelis really an Anglican hymn? I thought the hymn itself was much older than that. If I remember right the English version we all know "O, Come all Ye Faithful" was done by an Anglican, but the hymn is much older than that.

    Communion from a Lay Person

I'm fine with it. An older lady in our choir takes communion to her bedridden husband every Sunday.

While C.S. Lewis never became Catholic, his personal secretary...

The ones that have actually read some of his work other than Mere Christianity and the Screwtape Letters would say that. The problem is the general masses of Evangelicals who have at worst only heard Lewis quoted in the pulpit and at best have only read Mere Christianity. I'm only really...

While C.S. Lewis never became Catholic, his personal secretary...

I could sludge through Evangelical blogs and sermons, but I have no inclination to do so. What I know I know from living among Evangelicals in a deeply religious state, from hearing a number of Evangelical sermons, and from Evangelical friends. It's a figure of speech. One Evangelicals...

While C.S. Lewis never became Catholic, his personal secretary...

Despite the fact that he was, that's not what it's about. Reduced down to that level there isn't anything wrong. Considering the heavily decentralized nature of Evangelicalism such one specific situation is very unlikely to exist. What is done to Lewis' work isn't done with an intention to...
