i've been asked to help start a band

I have taught guitar on & off for many years & I always try & gear it to what they want to do. Why not start where they are? Talk to them about what they like. Get them to lend you stuff or give you links - learn how to play it & then teach them. They will feel listened to & you will learn.

    Teaching myself guitar

Also remember these days that there is a wealth of free stuff on youtube. I have been playing for 35 years but I still use it to learn cover versions & new tricks - saves a lot of time.

    Teaching myself guitar

I am self taught - I went from being hopeless (no pitch, no rhythm) to playing in bands & teaching because I was so desperate to learn. Guitar is not an immediate instrument in that you have to work to get a decent sound at all but once you get past that stage it is a lot easier. Here are a...

    Catholics Worship Mary?

What I always have a problem with over the issue of praying to Mary, is that for her to hear all our prayers, she would have to be omnipresent - an attribute of God.

    Ethics and Witnessing

I do not see it so much now, but there was a tendency to witness with 'come to Jesus & have no problems' which of course is neither biblical nor true. Of course, when the new Christian then has a problem ...... (Jesus said 'In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have...

    Murdoch Whines about the BBC

In the past two years I have had pneumonia, my wife breast cancer & my daughter has had a baby by caesarian section. I thank God for the NHS & the wonderful treatment we have received. I think the facts of the last few years alone should dispel the myth that everything in our society should...

    Help me please!

Another important point for me would be whether the divorce happened before or after conversion.

    Murdoch Whines about the BBC

I think you can compare the BBC to the NHS. It does a lot of good and has some awful problems and inconsistencies.
