    Is higher education biblical?

I believe that life experience is more important than what they teach you at college. I've been to Iraq, been married, and had many full time jobs. God has certainly brought me through a lot. I have yet to see where calculus and advanced algebra has helped me. :-)

Well I am leaving my church.

Thanks for an interesting post, Torcot! I'm sorry to hear that things didn't go well at your church. I fully support you decision to leave. Sounds to me like all that pastor is worried about is growing the church rather than preaching Christ. A huge church with unlearned believers is not a...

    Is higher education biblical?

Colleges rip people off now a days. The prices are outrageous and keep going up. That being said, for many jobs, you need to have a good education. In order to have a career, you need some type of formal education. I agree that sometimes, it seems like a waste of time. I started out...

    Eternal Security

In reply, sir, once saved, always saved is my belief. He died on the cross so that we all might be saved, but we have to accept that gift. I in no way meant that someone who comes and says a sinner's prayer but lives their life in an un-righteous manner contrary to the Word of God is...

No question about it. Jesus first of course. J. Vernon McGee. Adrain Rogers is amazing! Paul Washer isn't afraid to preach the Bible. Billy Graham back in his early years.

    Eternal Security

Well said, Cody. Safe in the arms of Jesus. Nothing can pluck us out of His hands. If we could lose our salvation, that would defeat the purpose of the cross. Why would God send His Son to die at the hands of wicked man if the gift was only temporary or could be lost. It makes no sense.

    Feminization of the Church

Men gossip just as much as women. The devil can work through anyone, male or female. The church is the perfect spot for him to do so. And as for sinning blatantly and ignoring God, same thing. Men are just as guilty as women. As for the reason more women go to church than men. I don't...

    My Introduction

Amen! Wow, what an awesome God we serve! We know that when we are going through difficult trials, God is right there taking care of us, wanting to help. He is such a loving God. The moment we give everything over to Him, He takes control and helps us return to His loving care. Now that you...

    Prayer Cloth

I don't use them, and neither does anyone in my church. The question is do they work? It's possible. However, I'm not comfortable using them. It's almost limiting God's power to a cloth. J.Vernon McGee made a good point in one of his studies. He was diagnosed with cancer some time during...

I have broken all of the ten commandments! Every last one....

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Don't dwell on your sin. We all have sinned. Yet Christ's blood is enough to wash those sins away and make you a new man. Once cleansed, you will change, but you have to believe that Christ will change you. You...

    Politics

I'm fairly fed up with politics. The amount of money and time that peope put into it is ridiculous. Our government will never be perfect and will never have perfect leaders. The only successful government will be that of Jesus Christ when he rules in the Millenial Kingdom. I'm sorry if I've...

    Romans 9:2-3

"My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them." — Romans 9:2–3 Wow! Are these verses not amazing? The Apostle Paul was grieved because he knew that...

    How vital is seminary?

I apologize if my comment appears to be naive. However, my question is this. Does God only use people who have an education? The answer is no. There are other ways to learn, such as working directly under a preacher and learning, with the Holy Spirit as the guide of course. If you feel the...

    How vital is seminary?

A.W. Tozer didn't have Bible College or Seminary, and look how God used him! I've had pastors who don't have either and yet God still uses them. Yes, I believe education can help the minister be more prepared for the ministry, however, I don't believe it's vital. God will use anyone He chooses...

    Why I doubt.

To be honest with you faceofbear, after reading your above response, my mind went to the Apostle Peter. When He saw Jesus walking on the water, he left the ship and walked on the water. However, when he looked down and lost faith, he began to sink. Immediately, Jesus reached out His hand and...

    Check Yourselves

I don't think we need to check ourselves for salvation. Rather, I think we should be checking ourselves to see if we're living our lives in a righteous manner to glorify Him. None of us are perfect and we all sin! However, we can be confident in the cleansing of our sins through Christ's...

Mars Hill Church, Mark Driscoll a cult?

I don't blame you for feeling uncomfortable at his church. I have felt uncomfortable listening to some of his sermons where he basically yells at you. I have mixed feelings on him. He is reaching a group of people (outcasts, rebels, "punks") who indeed need Christ. But he has said from the...

    Why I doubt.

foodiepeep: The only unpardonable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I don't know the story of your divorce and don't need to. I can however tell you that the Lord still wants to work through you. You have not lost your salvation (I am also divorced, by the way). Don't let the devil...
