    Daily Prayer

Was wondering if any of y'all are familiar with Amazon.com: The Daily Prayer of the Church: Philip H. Pfatteicher: Books and what your thoughts were. Someone asked me about it and I hadn't heard of it and had to look it up... thought I'd ask you guys.

Which bible version do you prefer and why?

Calluna, I would like for you to please explain where you see heresy - all we've been talking about so far is the use of the word 'behold.'

Which bible version do you prefer and why?

ummm..... 'behold' is quite a common word in the Bible, both in Hebrew and Greek. We may not use it all that often in English, but it's an appropriate word choice and hardly heresy.

"Catholic" practices and beliefs in Anglican Churches?

I can see what you're saying, a separate thread on the Articles may just serve as a catalyst for the heated non-discussions we all want to avoid. It would be interesting, though, for those in TEC (and I am one of them) and other provinces of the Anglican Communion to say something about how they...

"Catholic" practices and beliefs in Anglican Churches?

Perhaps a separate thread on the Articles of Religion is warranted?

Which bible version do you prefer and why?

None of my favorites were listed. I like the NRSV, it is the translation I hear at the Liturgy, and I am particularly fond of my Book of Common Prayer & NRSV leather-bound combo. Also the translation featured in most academic writing. I also like the Revised English Bible (a British...

"Catholic" practices and beliefs in Anglican Churches?

Sorry but that is not uniformly true. They hold varying levels of authority throughout the Anglican Communion.

Not recently ~ I have looked through one before and my few times visiting an ELCA parish all were with LBW. Since ELCA/ELCIC have developed ELW, has LCMS or WELS or some other combination of the more conservative Lutheran churches developed a new book?

Not sure if I should post this here or in the ELCA/ELCIC subforum... just wanted to say I picked up a copy of Evangelical Lutheran Worship (because I'm a liturgy nerd) and I quite like it from my first few glances through it. Have many/most parishes switched? Is it being well received...

Thanks for the lists. I found the list of non-canonicals quite interesting and surprisingly long!

    The Filioque

An interesting point. One worth thinking about. It may just be my experience, but a lot of Episcopalians in my circle have a growing fascination with Eastern Orthodoxy. They see something there that is intriguing and will adopt a notion, practice, belief from the East. That is fine by me...

    the sign of the cross

Crossing yourself in the Eastern fashion is fine, though you'll be in the minority. .. Find yourself an Anglo-Catholic parish that says all the prayers standing and spare your knees ;)

Sorry to keep on with the questions, but I looked at the link - am I correct then that according to SCOBA, ROCOR is not a canonical jurisdiction in the US?
