Greece burning and Syria in turmoil...

Well, thanks for the concern :). Schools are definitely working - with problems, shortages and the occational teachers' strike, but they are working. So are publishing houses and most definitely monasteries. I can assure you there is absolutely no question, need or reason for clergy to leave...

Greece burning and Syria in turmoil...

I still don't fully understand what you mean by "a stable centre for Orthodoxy". You seem to be looking for a country with not too many tele-visible incidents of social unrest but a strong percentage of Orthodox to play that role. Why do you think this is needed? We definitely didn't always...

    "arsenokoitai"

I don't know what I mean, I am not native in english. I just described the meaning of the greek word, since I happen to be native in greek. You can ask the question to the others who kindly corrected me.

    "arsenokoitai"

Well, literally the greek word means somebody (male) who goes to bed with a male. I don't know if there's a way to say that in modern english in one word.

    Simple Question

 Παρασκευή (literally "preparation") I think the whole concept of seven-day week is jewish / old testament rather than indo-european in origin, so I wouldn't look at pre-christian times for an alternative word. I actually think...

    This is disturbing

Radio frequency is what your mobile phone works on. Putting RFID tags on shopping simply means that instead of having this guy at the supermarket operating the barcode reader, you'll have your shopping transmit their ID to the reader so you get charged without having the guy operate the barcode...

Athens brought to a stand still again

Are you referring to the BBC article I pointed at? It's not about Greece at all. I would also say, the unbridled consumerism part that goes hand-to-hand with the holy and unquestionable doctrine of constant growth, well beyond covering the actual needs of a society, that part has definitely...
