How often do you wear the cross?

My Grandma left my cross to me, and I never take it off because she never took it off.

    Anglican/Methodist relations (UK)

I've grown up between the two traditions, as my father was raised Anglican until they moved house and the Methodist church was nearer; he and my (Catholic) mother married in that Methodist church and I was baptised and raised in it until we moved house and an Anglican church was nearer. If...

    Just wondering

I hadn't thought of it like that. But yes, our teachers did make a real effort to make sure that the 'faith' in faith school wasn't forgotten. I remember a lot of them at one of our communion services having a ceremony (no idea what it was called) so that they could administer communion to us.

    Just wondering

Where I'm from is mostly Catholic, and there are only four C of E senior schools so maybe the diocese has more time to get involved than the Catholic archdiocese does with the Catholic schools, I couldn't even tell you how many there are! All conjecture of course, I have no idea if my school had...

    Just wondering

We had the bishop of Liverpool regularly come to our school to give assemblies and give Communion on Epiphany. We had carol services and Easter services in the cathedral every year and at least once a week a local preacher or vicar would give an assembly. Also when I said 'all about' I didn't...

    Just wondering

I know all about the Church of England, I went to a C of E school with the children's mother and occasionally attend an Anglican church. But I'm a Methodist and while (in the UK at least) I've never been able to tell much difference between the services, the only formative 'ceremony' if you...

    Just wondering

My Godbabies (okay, only one of them is a baby. But still!) are being baptised in September, am I likely to have to attend any sort of classes? I've never been a Godmother before and I'm not C of E so I was just wondering what to expect.

Union of UK Methodists and the Anglicans

I was brought up Methodist but I've always hovered somewhere between the Methodist and Anglican churches. I went to a Church of England secondary school and since we moved house ten years ago we've been going to an Anglican church. I tend to try both churches whenever I rock up somewhere new and...

Falling for someone who isn't Christian

Well. The crux of it is that I find it silly to set out with the attitude of "I won't date anybody outside my religion". The main argument seems to be "How would the children going to Church/not going to Church go?" Purely practical. Love is NOT practical. It's a right royal pain in the bum, to...

    Off Topic - I'm concerned

I'll be honest. There's a fairly loud voice in my head that's saying -and I know she is vulnerable- that if somebody, anybody, is offering to pray for someone who is ill then it's not going to do any harm to let them. They are doing what they believe will help- I doubt that I'd have a problem...

Falling for someone who isn't Christian

Has she told him that she would only go out with a Christian? Because I'm sorry, but from what you've said, it's HER leading him on, not him 'wearing her down'. If he doesn't know that she doesn't want to date him then how can he be wearing her down? He thinks he's just flirting harmlessly...

    Newbie question (kissing hands)

My priest almost punched me in the face a few times moving his hand towards me at the end of the Liturgy when I kiss the cross (I don't receive). Hopefully because he knew I was new and was helping me not to look daft.

    OT: Wisdom Teeth

Me too! Although I suppose there's still time for mine to come through. Every so often the gums right at the very back of my mouth get a little swollen and tender (but only on the bottom jaw) and I think, "This time they're coming through!", but they never do.

    Hot Dog eating preferences...

They tend to come in cans of brine over here and you boil them. I've only ever had hotdogs once at a barbecue and they were from a massive pot on the boil. I don't really eat things at barbecues because I can't STAND burned food and things always seem to burn on the outside while remaining raw...

    Completely OT...TAW Redheads!

    Hot Dog eating preferences...

I just like hotdog, bun, onions and ketchup. I can't stand mustard unless it's a hint of it in a dressing or something. I did go to the little continental market which seems to appear overnight in Liverpool (and most of the UK) around Christmas and had a bratwurst with curry ketchup- I can't...

    Your Song

We don't have a song :( I have a few favourites which I would consider for a wedding but we haven't seriously (maybe half-seriously so far) talked about marriage yet. I think I'd go for Always by Bon Jovi or Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden if we ever did.
