    Continued prayer and

My wife is 56. She has had fibromyalgia for many years and the control of prescribed, necessary medications, is difficult to say the least. There is never a time when the scripts last out the month. That being said, a few days ago she was spending time on making the house shine. That went on for...

    Needing prayer please.

_______________________________________________________________ Whether you see it or not, your Dad needs a good man to man knock down. If parents can believe if you spare the rod you spoil the child, then I see no difference, regardless of age. Some people have to be shown physically where they...

    Robin Williams

______________________________________________________________ It is so easy to condemn, and it is especially easy to see within this thread. I found Robin Williams to be gifted, truly a man of wit and a sense of humor unlike just about everybody. I have very fond memories of him and the joy...

    Pagan Christianity

So much of the book is not mentioned in what I just read. The fact that tithing was intended to feed the poor, when food was the gift people brought to a fellowship, not money. That is as basic as a group of believers can get. There doesn't need to be so much concern over financing the church...

Book: Where do we go from here?

I'm now a non-believer in sermons. They are a waste of time and should not be permitted to allow one individual to own the fellowship. Sorry, Pagan Christianity speaks of it in-depth. Out with the old entirely. Unity of Spirit and "everyone hath a song, that is where we should be heading.

    Pagan Christianity

I've read it and love it. It has changed my way of thinking regarding the church, and I may never enter a man-made house of God ever again. Those buildings need to be taken down and true religion, undefiled begin.

Frank Viola's "Reimagining Church" is free for the next 26 hours

It's difficult to find comfort anywhere these days when it comes to fellowship. Certainly, it is not found in man-made buildings, that I think we can all agree on. Does everyone have something to offer? The Bible says they do, yet I've read where many are being rejected in home churches because...

    Empty

I don't know much about "cutting" other than what I learned when I watched a movie "Ordinary People." It taught me a lot about how people can blame themselves for something that is beyond their control. Things happen and they happen clearly when least expected. I don't think scripture in itself...

Tithing was for PRODUCE not money

Continuing on with tithing, by Frank Viola in his book "Pagan Christianity." "This brings us back to that oft-quoted text in Malachi 3. What was God saying there? First, this passage was directed to ancient Israel when they were under the Mosiac Law. God's people were holding back their thithes...

    Isn't this refreshing to read?

From the book "Pagan Christianity" by Frank Viola."Does the Bible teach us to tithe? and .....are we spiritually obligated to fund the pastor and his staff? The answer to these two questions may shock you. IS TITHING BIBLICAL? Tithing does appear in the Bible. So, yes tithing is biblical. But...

Leaving a charismatic cult....Is everyone else "APOSTATE" or is that another lie?

I haven't read the entire thread, but I'm very interested in Andy Stanley's teachings. He is so down to earth and he demonstrates certain hard to understand issues with great ease. I highly recommend Andy. He will add comfort and contentment to your studies. I found his last teaching on grace vs...

    PDX has my vote

PDX Christ Follower had a very good point about the importance of medical marajuana. I work for a hospital and I see pain on a daily basis. My wife suffers chronic pain, pain is everywhere. Tension is everywhere. Back during the early days of the use of weed things were calm, very mild. People...

    Frank Sinatra anyone???

I have to agree, Crosby over Sinatra when it comes to singing............. As it goes with acting however, always Sinatra over Crosby. Playing Father Flanigan wasn't enough to swing me over to Crosby for acting. Frank was a natural and allowed for the movie to flow more like a movie should flow...

    Why do you play?

I don't consider my God-given talent in music a necessity to evangelize. I see it simply as a gift to make people happy, to pull them away from their immediate troubles. It isn't noisy, it isn't full of jamming, it isn't outside of true melodic sounds..... It is however designed for casual...

How did your passion for Jazz Music start?

From early on in my childhood, I was introduced to bands and performers who worked with big bands; Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Frank Fontaine, and then there were the ballad singers whose choice of material allowed for some interesting changes in chords; Nelson did a fine job with the writing of...

    Formulas and Methodology's

It would be nice to understand what is it you and your wife suffer. Our troubles have many names. Several of which are used widely and taken in by others as common ailments, simple things that to them shouldn't require such a drive toward reaching "God" and ending so much of it. Her eleven or so...

    Formulas and Methodology's

I appreciate all that has been said, but in reality, my wife continues in chronic pain. After a certain point in her walk of "faith" she has broken down many, many times. It's then that there aren't words enough to encourage her. Her pain levels are intense and unrelenting, her attempts at...

    Formulas and Methodology's

Much of what I read among Christians has to do with what I call "formulas." If we do this, God will do that. And I don't feel that it was God's intent that we see following after Christ as a method of achieving things if we learn the formulas. I know it says that if we confess with our mouth and...

How do I find my way back?

________________________________________________________ Sometimes when I hear about what others are suffering I don't take my troubles so seriously. I know that this life is short, shorter now than when it was ten years ago and that's a fact I can live with.......You see, my wife is quite the...
