Perhaps you shouldn't struggle with it so much. After all the good Lord gave everyone a talent. If you are holding back on yours maybe you aren't reaching the level the Lord wants you to be at.

It's the other way around you can use oils over acrylics but not acrylics over oils. In fact for acrylic painting you want separate brushes because even the tiniest amount of oil will ruin it for acrylic painting.
