Waiting for the Sun to Set

Waiting for the sun to set Too long the day, too often, too short Often a prison, often, resort Painfully cold, suffocatingly hot I closed my eyes, I saw a lot Opened too long, blinded by light High tides washed away the night and then the dawn I looked around, the world ran past Tried to...

    Need some advice. =)

Have you ever bought a copy of Writer's Digest? If not, go check one out at the library or book store. Also, there are some great writer's magazines at the bookstores with a wealth of info for any aspiring writer--everything from what your manuscript should look like (spacing, font sized, etc.)...

For all those "Grammer Nazis" out there... here's a sentence for you to chew on! :D

Even though I see this is meant to be a humorous post, I have to ask, do some really think of it like this? I realize some consider it naziism to correct one's grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc., but I thought all aspiring writers realized some editors will toss your manuscript in the trash...

    Writers Block

I wish waiting for a feeling worked for me. If I had to wait for a feeling or something, I'd never write. For me, nothing cures writer's block like writing. Write one good sentence--doesn't matter what it's about--some super stud walking into a crowded room feeling hot but has a revealing price...

Dose any one have this problem?

The trick is to just write, block or no block. Just get some words down--your thoughts. Doesn't matter about what; your day, your job, the zit on your narcissistic neighbors nose, who cares, just write it down! Worry about editing later. ;)

    What should I write about?

Always write about what you know. Tap into your interests, hobbies, experiences, even fetches. We all have something we can tap into. You are a walking, talking book. Your backbone is the binding, your brain, the index. The possibilities are endless!

    New Guy on the Block

Hook me in 20 words or less

He was the best of swines. He was the worst of swines. The only thing everyone could agree on was he was the cleverest darn pig they'd ever seen in tight leather pants. (slightly over 20 words but hey...)

Dose any one have this problem?

In my early years of writing I had that problem, until I heard from one writer--just WRITE! Don't worry about WHAT, you an always go back and edit later. The important thing is to write, write write. It will evolve itself. I have a lot of faith in this method.

    Hello from Seattle!

I was wondering about that. But I put in my email addy and it said it didn't recognize it. I haven't been here for about 2 years so I assumed I lost my account. Guess I'm just forgetting something--maybe I had a different addy then, I dunno. Thanks for the info.

    Writers Block

Just write, don't worry about what you're writing, you can always go back and edit later. My suggestion is go to the Hook Me In 20 Words Or Less thread and practice. It's a great exercise--plus, it pertains to one of the most important rules in writing, hooking the reader within the first paragraph.

Hook me in 20 words or less

Morning hid ominously behind a veil of disquieting darkness, revealing itself only through the anxious assail of my 8am alarm. No kidding, this is hard, but very effective, I think. Good exercise for writer's block. Is there anyone critiquing us?
