    You were a child once!

I guess they automatically figure childfree=hates children, and they think "how can you hate children when you were a child once?" And I figure that the more I understand what it was like for me as a child, and the dysfunctional patterns I grew up with, the more I realize it was the best...

    How do you remain "child-free"?

Sometimes it is necessary to remove the ovaries with cysts or fibroids. My sister had fibroids too, and had to get her ovaries removed. She is using an estrogen patch, and is doing fine. She feels better overall. My hairdresser had it all removed and said she never needed to use hormones. I...

    Thanks!

No, but I admire your desire to so so. And I would love to be a part of something like that.

    How do you remain "child-free"?

Nope. I kept my ovaries and nothing has changed. If anything I have experienced vast improvment in all departments ;) because my monstrous fibroids aren't interfering anymore. Those kind of stories really peeve me because they seem designed to scare women from getting hysterectomies, and...

    How do you remain "child-free"?

I agree. Kids have to be allowed to be kids. I'm just realizing how much lately I wasn't allowed to be one. When you have an alcoholic/rageaholic father and a codependent mother, you aren't allowed to be a child. You can never rock the boat and you must already know everything without being...

    How do you remain "child-free"?

DH got fixed in 1997. I had a hysterectomy 3 months ago which was medically necessary and would have eventually became an emergency. No pregnancies will happen here.

    Some Thoughts

I've been reading some really good books lately which have cleared up some confusion in my life. All of them are about how to take healthy ownership over our lives, and knowing what we are responsible for and what we are not. I grew up in a household where I learned that I was expected to bear...

    Guess what happened to me.

I had a car catch on fire a few years ago. I started it and smoke came out , I thought it just overheated but I found out after it sat for a few minutes that one of the wires that the battery connected to caught on fire. It turned out that the guy who had just worked on it messed up when he...

    I Have Never...

I had the misfortune of seeing it only because a friend turned it on when I was at her house. I never saw what all the fuss was about.

    I Have Never...

Yeah, they hit here in Kentucky all the time, but I'm usually indoors hiding in my basement. And they are usually in the surrounding areas, but never a direct hit where I'm at.

    I Have Never...

I have never... Broken a bone either. Traveled outside of North America. Seen a tornado personally, nor do I hope to.

    Question about your friendships

    1. Do you have friends who are parents? Yes, but most of them have older or adult children. My closest friends are either single, childless/childfree, or empty-nesters. 2. Do you find it difficult ot be friends with them? It is difficult with people who have small children because they have...

How do you and wife/hubby sleep?

Because DH snores, he sleeps in our spare bedroom much of the time so that I can get some sleep and be fit to live with. I don't think that has any bearing on our level of intimacy, we are best friends and share everything else other than our bed.

    A tad concerned... :\

I have learned in my past 12 years of being a Christian that there will always be people in leadership positions in the church who are misguided, who will take the bible out of context and turn what is meant to be a fulfilling relationship with the Lord into one that is all about following a...

Is it Selfish to Have Your Own Children?

I don't think having what you want automatically makes you selfish. Life isn't meant to be all drudgery. God wants us to be happy as long as we are being responsible with it, and not trampling on others to get what we want. One verse that comes to mind for me in this regard is...

    children and telephones

I know what you mean. Everytime I talk on the phone to SDIL, she's always arguing with one of her kids in the background at the same time. When I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to interrupt a conversation unless it was really important.

    We're moving

That's great that you will be living somewhere that you will be happy with. I'm a city girl myself, and prefer to have all the things like stores, restaurants, and whatnot close to home. And I wish I could walk, bike, or take the bus instead of having to drive everywhere. Cars are a pain and...
