What gives them the right to even assert that they may have some say in relgious beliefs. There's a much higher authority to contend with than the EU if things are to be changed.

As a hard set Conservative Republican, I don't think this is a bad idea at all... The problem is with law enforcement and government aid. It's much easier to regulate this sort of thing and keep tabs on the trouble makers if they have an identity.
