What is with SDA and Vegetarianism?

Just wondering ~ do Mormans attach each other about their diet like we do? They are even stricter than we are (although I don't think it's about meat) I remember years ago that their life span was the only one longer than SDA's.

    Question on forgiveness, Doc??

Doc, Please write more when you have time. I struggle with this too. Mine isn't as life threatening as Broxi's, but the principle is the same. I know we should forgive for our own sakes because it poisons us ~ but I don't know how. Does God give us practical steps? How do you forgive and...

    You know your SDA if....

I'm reading this at work and laughing out loud! I am 2nd gen ADventist and went to academy. Heard this from my best friend: You may be SDA if you won't have sex on Friday night 'cuz you consider it work! ^_^ It wasn't until a few years ago that I heard ad-VEN-ist Where did that come from?

What to talk to God about?

Wanted to 2nd what everyone else has said. Just chat! In your situation, I would probably pray for each customer as they come thru. God will put words in your mouth to say to them ~ like what a beautiful dress or love your hair, etc. It may be meaningless to you, but HE will tell you just...

Is it Biblical to Exepct Never to be Down?

I know people who feel guilty because they have bad feelings occasionally. They think they aren't trusting God when they are down. This is Satan's work. He want's us to distrust our relationship with the Lord.

Seventh Day Adventist's theological View Point on..

I believe they were cast down to the earth and are here.

A Baptist...for most of my life

I, too, am happy with my denomination & like you, if at any time I don't like it I will leave ~ not try to convince the entire church they are wrong. Back in the day ~ when the 'net was becoming more available we had a service called Compuserve. It hosted an SDA forum and the SAME exact...

Christian Education in Adventist Schools, why it is important?

I think that's pretty standard. All the churches I've been a part of over the years have supported those who can't pay & God has always blessed that. Our schools are not there to make money, but to train our youth. Many teachers don't even receive a salary. ~~g.

Since this forum looks like it is going to be spilt.

I guess I'm what y'all consider traditional. I just want a forum for Bible study, a place to search the scriptures and gain insight. I have no interest in trying to convince other SDAs that our doctrines are wrong or outdated. I hope all this works out and 'thank you' to all of you...

    Adventist Rule Poll#2 REDO---Sub-forums

I support a Bible Study forum where we can discuss a subject and all the related scriptures and thoughts (without someone jumping in trying to convince us that EW said it was okay to drink wine with our pork chops.) I am a little worried that a 'new sda' forum might lead to false security for...

Missing Books To The Bible - Why?

I have a feeling that as time goes on, all sorts of authoritative books will be "discovered" ~~ odds are some will say things about doing away with the commandments, Sunday worship, etc. A sign on the times!

Missing Books To The Bible - Why?

There were lots of historical records written at that time. Whose to say they are "missing" from the Bible? Just because a book references someone/event that is in the Bible doesn't mean it should have been included. Satan is going to try to distract you and do everything he can to cause you...

    CF changes ~ I'm lost

I haven't been here long enough to know what was and what is going to be. Are we deciding on WHO can access this forum? I've read references to letting others come in and bash us. Or are we giving moderators the right to delete those types of posts? I'm looking for a forum of like minded SDAs...

    Interesting....

You have to give Satan his credit on this one. He's really masterminded a good deception. "Thou shalt not surely die" To comfort children they tell them that Granny has gone to heaven ~ so why would they be scared if "Granny" visits them. The concept has become so normal/common I think...

A powerful statement made by EGW.

Thanks John, Didn't mean to hijack the thread. I can usually figure out people from reading their posts, then again sometimes it's just easier to ask flat out. I believe in EGW, just like the Bible, the writings must be in context. Like her saying kids shouldn't have bicycles. Seems strange...

A powerful statement made by EGW.

Maco, I've only been on these forums for a short time & am still reading and learning who posters are. I'm curious as to why you became an SDA? What attracted you to our doctrines? (I figure asking direct quesions will speed the learning process up for me! :) ) ~~georiga

    The Sabbath 1- Sundown

My DH teases me about 'guarding the edges of the Sabbath' as I attempt to celebrate it as early as possible. Come 4ish, I start shutting down things, I mean why risk it? ;) LOL Seriously, the idea of quiet time, a change of pace, is so appealing, I really never look at the clock.

    Burdens caused by wrong interpretaions

If I may add my 2 cents: We are starting from the assumption that the health message is a burden. Is it really? Are a few scattered church members judging others as not worthy because they eat meat or unclean foods? If that's the case, those types are going to judge regarding clothing, choice of...

    Pray

Prayer is really the ONLY thing we can do. We don't have the power to heal or forgive or set up kingdoms or take them down. (Although we sometimes think we do!) Prayer keeps us connected and in tune. ~~g.
