Pics from Pascha and Bright Monday

Someone from our parish put together this slideshow of our Pascha service. Our church is teeny tiny, so don't expect a big, ornate building like the others have posted :D http://www.cloudybright.com/469.php

I'm having an issue I can't discuss with my Priest.

Orthodox priests must have the consent of their wives before they are ordained so the priests' wives more or less know what they're "getting into."

    Beautiful Orthodox Music

It's a shame files are RealAudio though. I refuse to even attempt listening to RA files because they work so poorly. Window Media Player files would be better and streaming MP3 the best of all (even if it was non-downloadable...which you can do.)

My inlaws flip flop through three languages in conversation! English, Hindi, Gujurati I'm always incredibly lost.

    Thats my GodFather!

No, must be someone different. He's Russian and speaks only Russian and English (unless he's taken up Greek since he's been there!) I think he's working in the bookstore now. He actually chose St. Anthony's partially because he couldn't speak Greek and said he'd be less tempted to idle...

When I moved to Florida and was looking for a church, we decided to go to the parish closest to our house first, which just so happened to be a Romanian Church, but in the OCA. I went the first time by myself because my wife was sick. I get there and the priest can barely speak English...

    Adopted culture

I still wish all the churches in the US would drop the "Greek" "Russian" "Antiochian" or whatever off of the signs, or at least out of the name of the church. I'd like to see HOLY TRINITY ORTHODOX CHURCH instead of HOLY TRINITY GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH. Or, if they wanted to do something like...

    Naming Children?

Yup, my first name is Joel and that is a very difficult combo of letters for most Asian people. It usually comes out as "Jo", but I let it go, because I know they're trying.

    Naming Children?

Dad? Seriously, my dad was going to name my brother that, but my mom wouldn't allow it.

    Naming Children?

My son has an American sounding first name, Isaac (name for St. Isaac of Syria), but his middle name is Anastasios (since he was born during Bright Week). There's not really an American sounding version of Anastasios, so we just went with the Greek eventhough neither my wife nor I have a drop...

    Thats my GodFather!

Well, while we're showing godfather pictures...my godfather is the monk in the background. I miss him.

I agree with a lot of wiffey says though too. I married an Indian woman and her mother actually said to me at one point, "You're a nice enough fellow, but really, you should go and make some white girl happy insead! Indians and Americans don't belong together." Keep in mind my wife was...

    Adopted culture

I've always been interested in the cultures of the world, but becoming Orthodox has heightened my interests in the various cultures of predominantly Orthodox countries. This is particularly true of Greece, eventhough I've always attended OCA parishes. I wouldn't say I've "adopted" Greek...

    Question About Christianity and Country...

Most new "country" is just pop music with the vaguest hint of country and/or twang in it. A lot of it isn't too terribly different than other popular music.

    Del McCoury Band

I haven't seen Del & the Boys in a few years (unfortunately), but I'm a huge fan. They're coming to Florida in January and hopefully I can take in the show. The whole band is insanely good. Best band in bluegrass today if you ask me.
