Animal Cruelty : Where is the line

I would find your dog a new home. Not all pets are a good fit, and there may be someone else out there who can better deal with it. I can't help you with the biblical part, sorry.

    Kissing on the Cheek

Self understanding and personal growth are all very good and well. BUT, it's still her body. If she doesn't want to be kissed, she has a right to say no. What part of no do people fail to understand???

    Kissing on the Cheek

We had a fellow at work who tended to want to hug all the time. He said it was the norm in his church. But it was a work situation, and hugging was most certainly not the norm. When asked to stop, he didn't. This is harrassment. If you feel uncomfortable, you should mention it, or discuss it...

    The Terror of Biopsies

I'm a three year cancer survivor, and I am still not used to being under a microscope. Just before Christmas my physical therapist found a suspicious change to the skin around my mastectomy scar. My oncologist and radiation oncologist both agreed it was iffy, so I had to have a biopsy on...

Counseling/therapy - to do or not

I absolutely recommend it. If it doesn't feel right, you can always stop. When I was going through cancer treatments I attended a free, weekly support group at the cancer center (Cancer Care NW in Spokane, WA). I got a lot out of it, learned a lot, and in addition to its helping me, I was able...

How can judges demand God be taken out of public places?

All the evidence I've seen points to the opposite. "God fearing." What a horrible phrase. "God loving" is a nice phrase. I'd far rather, if one is religious, that they use love to guide their children. Fear is not a good tool to create intelligent, ethical, good citizens. If all that keeps...

Hugs to you and your dog. As for the possible new home, please check out the church(s) yourself. All that matters is that YOU like the church. It might work for you, or it might not. But your current church members aren't you, and might not know what will work for you. Good luck.

How much should people be able to sell out their children's future?

Exactly, and very well said. I had no clue about how terrible our health care payment system is until I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Even with health insurance, I'm out of pocket in the tens of thousands. Without my mother's help I'd have been doomed. I have a friend who couldn't afford to...

    Falling Away

Please get help. There are hotlines you can call for support. And therapy would be good. The problem with drugs and alcohol is that they'll worsen your depression rather than help you out of it. I'm no expert, but I think you need professional help to get you out of this downward spiral. There...

Is it wrong for religious people to read other religious books than their own?

Is it wrong? Of course not. If one's beliefs can't stand up to information, then of what use were they in the first place? If one's faith is strong, if one believes they are in the right, then they shouldn't be afraid of a little study. How are we ever going to understand each other if we don't...

Is it wrong to confront a cheater at his wedding?

I think the people who make the show and set up the situations should be ashamed of themselves. They're only doing it to create a heavily dramatized situation. That's why I hate shows like this and refuse to watch them on general principle.

Is it wrong to confront a cheater at his wedding?

I hate shows like that. But under the circumstances, I think the woman did what she had to do. That cheater deserved what he got, and the woman who was about to marry him dodged a bullet. Far better to find out before the "I do."

Only you can decide what to tell your husband, but given the violent tendencies he's been showing, I would not. As long as he has your email, or some other way to contact you if he needs to, he does not have any need or right to know where you physically reside. I think this sounds like just the...

    Housewife?

This is certainly not true for everyone. I'm a woman, and career is extremely important to my self esteem. Perhaps the difference is that I've never wanted to be a parent. It would kill me to stay at home and keep the home fires burning. If I had children it might be different, but I need the...

In my opinion, protecting your life and the life of your child is the most important thing. There are SO MANY red flags in your stories of you husband that I'm truly frightened for you. I hate to say it, but if I were in your shoes I would not give him any chance to be near you or your baby.

    Housewife?

There is no "meant to be" with respect to housewifery. I'm a strong opponent of having clear gender lines between various jobs. We are all different, and we should do what we feel is our "calling", regardless of what that role is. Independent women? I am one. ^_^ I could no more be a housewife...

Please help me understand women in combat.

If a woman is qualified for the job, she should be allowed to do the job. I would make a lousy soldier. I'm middle aged, have never been very strong, and hate violence. But what of my neighbor who is 6 feet tall? If she were athletic and inclined to serve in combat, why should she be denied? If...

    The "N" word

Me too. If we're to have any chance at all of getting along with our fellow humans, a little courtesy goes a long way.
