I'm too lazy to look for the old thread, so I decided to start a new one. Post your most recent mix.
5-6-06
1. Gnarls Barkley -- Crazy
2. The Unicorns -- Tuff Ghost
3. Caribou -- Bees
4. Animal Collective -- Leaf House
5. Bonnie "Prince" Billy -- Only Someone Running
6. ...And You...
I was thinking the other day about all the different things that people eat. What you put on your plate, look at with your eyes, and smell with your nose reflects what's in your heart and vice versa. I mean, what you eat affects your heart.
So likewise, eat Godly food, or at least...if you...
I was perusing decapolis and was inspired to steal a thread idea (albeit modified).
So my question to you is:
What ten songs have had the biggest impact on you?
Here's my list:
"Heroin" -- The Velvet Underground
"I Am the Walrus" -- The Beatles
"The Times Are Changing" -- Bob Dylan...
I just read this on Yahoo News.
Why is Miles just now being inducted? Also, I thought Black Sabbath turned down a nomination in the past? Anyway, I don't give a flying flip about the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame, but I think this years inductees are better than most.
Today, Chase officially released a new EP, Break of Day. It contains six new songs, along with four older tunes chronicling his past releases. Here's the official tracklisting:
1. Do You See Love?
2. McKenzington
3. Free Class Girl
4. Midwest
5. Society
6. Sometimes
7. Good For You...
I know this has been done countless times in the past, but since there are many new faces around, it may be helpful to list our favorite bands and/or albums.
Here are mine (favorite album by the artist noted as well):
1. Modest Mouse (The Moon and Antarctica)
2. Joanna Newsom (The Milk...
Perhaps someone computer literate can help me out...
Many of my Beatles tunes play incorrectly on both Windows Media Player and iTunes. Often times, the lead vocals are barely audible. I have problems like this with a few songs by other artists, but not on the same level. It's annoying (to...
This place has been dead lately. What's the deal? Are the discussions just bad? Anyway, if you have something to say, feel free to say it. No agenda, no goals, no purpose. Tangents are appreciated.
Alright, this deserves its own thread.
I just found out tonight that Kelly Clarkson is having a show on campus on Thursday. Tickets are still available (for $40 :o ), but there is no way that I can get off of work.
Pity me.
Lately I've been pondering whether it is beneficial to question someone's particular beliefs. For example, if a christian evangelizes randomly and causes someone to fret over what they currently believe, is it really a good thing? Similarly, if someone causes a christian to lose faith in God...
Is anyone else excited about the new Sigur Ros album due later this year?
I recently watched "The Life Aquatic", and "Staralfur" was beautifully placed in one scene. I had to go back and listen to "Agaetis Byrjun" today...what a great album.
Thoughts/Opinions?
Is anyone else into Nas? I was only somewhat familiar with his music before buying Stillmatic a couple of weeks ago. I also bought Illmatic earlier today, and although Illmatic is probably the better album, I'm more of a fan of rap during the late 90s/early 00s that Stillmatic falls into. Nas...
I know the buzz is all about the new Coldplay album, but I haven't heard anyone mention the new disc by The White Stripes. Did anyone buy it? I think it's pretty good...not nearly as solid as White Blood Cells, but a definite step up from Elephant, which I didn't think was that bad.
Although threads where you share your favorite lyrics abound, I'm curious as to what makes a great lyricist. This thread was inspired by this discussion:
Is the quality of lyrics subjective, or are there good and bad lyricists?
Feel free to discuss your favorite songwriters and favorite...
The music charts seem to be full of indie kids, but there is a lack of indie threads. This is a thread to discuss anything indie; post your favorite artists, albums, songs, reviews, tour information, latest news, or anything you care to discuss.
:)
Arwen's thread regarding the best music location in a song inspired me to create this thread. So I must ask:
What city/state/country has given the world the best bands?
I appreciate the US Northwest, Washington, or Seattle (to be more specific). Many bands that I've been into at some point...
Why do many artists seem to reach a creative peak and then trickle off?
A couple of weeks ago, I read in a book that the mind becomes more complacent and less creative with time. The passage claimed that mathematicians peak in their 20s and often have trouble formulating great theories as...
I was burning cds for a friend when I realized that I needed to look up the info for Andy Warhol Presents the Velvet Underground and Nico. (You see, I own the VU box set, and because there are many extra songs thrown in, I wanted to make sure that I included only the original album.) What I...
What song do you think is the best album closer? You can base it on the song alone or the closure it brings to the record as a whole.
I'll save my runner-ups and get straight to my favorite: "Street Spirit (Fade Out)" from Radiohead's The Bends.
