The soonest I have got my cycle back after childbirth is 11 months, the longest 18 months. And for me it has been predictable of 2-3 anovulatory cycles before 'the real thing'. And this is all still with breastfeeding going on. The signs were easy to spot (I just watch symptoms, don't temp)...

In my experience, the first few cycles of returning AF are lighter. But I've never been on the mini-pill, so I don't know how that affects it.

Can I vote for "none of the above"? :) DH does this every so often, maybe a couple of times a year, depending on finances. So it's not a total shock, not suspicious, but not routine either.
