    John Calvin murdered?

Makes sense, but then does this excuse the executions by the catholics as well? In any event shows religion and politics do not mix well..

    John Calvin murdered?

Some of those bones get caught in my throat..think I'll select another dish. It's kind of tough being baptist in that we've only technically been around for what..300 years? Maybe not a lot of depth historically to work with.

    The Most Baizaar News Story

Is it ok if the person uses it as a force of good? Sort of a civil punishment, use whatever money to cover court costs and give away the rest? Foreordained or fatalism....at some point it becomes a little wavy..

    John Calvin murdered?

Yeah, yeah they are for this discussion. Not all anabaptists were pacifist amish/meenonite types. But they were amazingly similar, especially regarding baptism and church polity.

    The Most Baizaar News Story

Irony. Some would say the same thing about voting and going war:D:wave: After all it is meant to be; why be an obstruction? Anyhow litigation seems to be the only recourse these days when dealing with inept medical doctors...unless of course the doctor isn't responsible for cutting off...

    John Calvin murdered?

He's the same as Luther and Zwingli and the Catholic Popes ~ they considered us (baptists, though back then we would be classified as anabaptists) as heretics since we practiced believer's baptism. Why would I read from someone that thinks we're heretics? Works fine for the Presbyterians and...

Be advised there are some that believe Calvin could do no wrong and probably should be listed among the Apostles^_^

    question for baptists

I love the "Patron Saint Rick Warren" thing :D :D There are so many different baptist churches and so many differences within each subsect of baptist labels that you gotta walk into the door and see what they're like.

    When I see the blood.

I'm a little dense (obviously)~~what would be a "mystical understanding", something like visions or "voices from heaven" sort of thing?

    Today's evangelicals are yesterday's Pharisees

    When I see the blood.

Is there room for anything mystical in Baptist theology or is everything pretty much an academic/scholastic cut-and-dried all-figured-out doctrinal treatise? Is there any mystery left to it?

    Biblical Revolution?

While I would not idly sit by I would not pursue the situation. You are trying to justify a "Declaration of Independence" via self-defense. Good luck.

    Biblical Revolution?

Protecting the innocent and creating a "Declaration of Independence" two separate things regardless of how you might want to join them together General. also, from post#13 on this thread:

    Biblical Revolution?

What about Nero's gov't? What about the current crop of governments in 3d world countries, especially Africa? What about it? Romans 13 doesn't say what kind of gov't it is, just that God has ordained all the rulers...why one is evil and another not so much is a sovereign rule from God.

    Biblical Revolution?

Nope I wouldn't be idle, but in the same breath I would not try to overturn the existing gov't...and if I was involved in sedition I should not be surprised if the gov't comes after me and my family:doh: You're trying to make a historical act fit biblically to justify it. You needn't do...
