What is the most useful book you've ever read?

Mine is 'The Sinner's Guide' by Venerable Louis of Granada. I've read tons, simple to more advanced, but this simple guide has been the greatest help to me in ordering my spiritual life. No choosing any part of the Word of God.

Which Saints would be your pals?

If God allowed for you to have one night at a table with 4 Saints/Blesseds/SofGod, who would you choose? Keep in mind, that allows you to observe how they interact with one another as well. Let's assume no language barrier would exist. With whom would you choose to converse and why?

    What was your first date?

For those of you currently married, engaged, hoping to be engaged, courting, playing the field, or withdrawn from relations with the opposite sex due to some negative views you hold on the subject due to a string of bad experiences: I began to ramble, and actually I'm really asking those in...

Looking for some old friends. . .

I've been away for a very long time. The forums are completely unfamiliar to me now. It says I last visited 5th November, 2007. I had become inactive long before that though. I recall I had tried logging on months after my back surgery, then quickly realized more than 5 mins at a computer...

    Papal Primacy Council Quote

Hey everyone. I've been trying to remember a quote similar to that of St. Ambrose when he says "Ubi Petrus, ibi ergo ecclesia" or "Where Peter is, therefore is the Church". That one is from his Explanatio psalmi. I know there are more than a few referencing Petrine Primacy in some of the...

    Prayer Request

Greetings in Christ, old friends, the few of you who are left. Most of you probably don't know me, but I used to frequent OBOB. Those who remember me should remember me to not be particularly humble in asking for anything, but now I ask those of you who can to pray for me for growth in my...

Greetings in Christ, my Orthodox brethren! I have a quick question for anyone who might be able to answer. Does anyone know where I can find an online version of Agni Partene or Agnh Parthene (sp?) without having to buy an entire cd? Thanks! Pax! Matthew

    What'd I miss?

Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ! I've missed you all! I've just dropped by to see how everyone is doing, perhaps get a quick run-down of the happenings in OBOB. So let me know who is still here, more importantly who remembers me! Really, how is everyone? Pax Christ! Matthew

Dear friends, thanks for our time together. . .

I just want to thank all of you for all that you've done for me during my time here thus far. This is the greatest Christian community (both online AND in person) that I have ever encountered. I am glad to have been a part of this, and I thank all of you for allowing me to share in your wisdom...

    Prayers please

Hey all, thanks everyone for your prayers for my aunt who recently died, I genuinely appreciate it. Today, though my Uncle had a heart attack and is in the ICU of St. Jude Hospital. The clogs were cleared and his arteries are splinted( I think) to keep them clear, but he will need several...

    Have you seen this site?

Hey all! Sorry I haven't been really active but as soon as I got back from Reno, I found out my 96 yr old aunt had passed away. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and a faithful Catholic full of Christ's love 'til the very end. Knowing this has been a great alleviation to my sorrows...

    Be back monday

I've just been informed today that I will be accompanying my parents to Reno(9hrs away) from this afternoon until this Sunday night. While I look forward to the huge Hot August Nights carshow there, I deplore any activity which takes me away from the forums for a prolonged period of time. I...

    Orthodox POV please. . .

Greetings brethren :) I have 2 questions that were raised in recent threads in OBOB in which 2 Orthodox posters participated. First, from the Orthodox POV, are "Roman Catholics" considered to be the first Protestants? And do you consider the Pope of the Roman See to be the leader of Christ's...

    The Notebook

So, who has seen this movie? I was tricked into going to go see it last night, and by the time it was over I was glad that I did. Aside from some sexual content(no nudity though) I think it was a beautiful movie(and I usually hate the typical lovestory-type movies). I don't want to ruin...

    Help with Trinitarian Apologetics

Any assistance would be appreciated. http://www.christianforums.com/t729887 I'm afraid I'm not well schooled enough in the Biblical arguments for and against the Holy Trinity. Thanks!

St. Peter and the Vatican: A Legacy of the Popes

I came back from vacationing in San Diego last week, and while I was there I went to the San Diego Museum of Art where they held this exhibit. It was awesome. We spent 2 hours in there, easily, just looking at the MASSIVE amount of paintings, architecture, reliquaries, etc. You could spend...

    LOTR and the Catholic Faith

I just came across an evaluation of the Catholic undercurrent of the Lord of the Rings movies which is pretty darn cool. For your reading pleasure, http://www.lifeteen.org/lotr.asp.

    Not marrying a sin?

"My question is, would it be a sin to not get married because of the fact that you don't want kids? I want to become Catholic, and I know about contraception, and how it is a sin. So my question would be if I choose not to get married because I don't want kids, would that be a sin?" - a friend...
