Where to draw the line on social issues?

I will allow history itself to answer your question: courtesy of Wikipedia by Pastor Martin Niemöller First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist...

    What would it take?

go to the WELS church and ask the pastor these questions. In fact, he might be willing to discuss them by phone. I travel forty miles to church every Sunday.

    A question for confessional Lutherans...

One of the worst things that ever happened to the Church as a whole is when Constantine made it part of the government. I can't think of a single example of State Church that isn't heterodox (Heretical-non-orthodox). It would be a great service to the Christian church as a whole if all the...

What is pietism? What's wrong with pietism?

Pietism focuses on self rather than on God. That is to say; what have I done in my own strength today? Have I resisted evil? Have I concentrated on God's word? Have I done good works? Lived a holy life? etc, etc, etc... If you are saying it sounds a lot like Works Righteousness, you are...

    church attire

Well said as any liberal would Mr. You are very good at setting yourself as the expert who cannot be forsworn. Are we a bit insecure as to how we dress at Church on any given Sunday, Hmmm?;) Do you have a photographic or written record on how the early Church showed up for worship? Do...

    church attire

Hmmm... How does one dress when going to work? How would one dress if they were going to appear in front of... say... the President of the U.S. or possibly Queen Elizabeth?;) Should we show the King of Kings any less respect? How one dresses for Church shows how much respect one has...

    Foundering...

If you are interested in the LCMS, may I recommend Dr. Rod Rosenbladt? You might find what he has to say helpful. He's somewhat less... dramatic than Fisk and at least safely entertaining as well. Who knows but that your wife might like his style better.;) Rod Rosenbladt Sermons -...

    Lutheran liturgy?

Thanks to the Ablaze movement, Praise Bands are one of the reasons I LEFT the LCMS! Had there been another congregation within commuting distance, I would simply have moved over to them, provided they also weren't possessed of the same liberal stupidity.:sigh: The traditional liturgy practiced...

What did Luther mean by, "They are teaching me to be rude."?

I'll never understand how people can say they are Christians and yet hate the Jews. I don't believe such a video has any place here.

    WELS' bible translation

Coming from a somewhat British background and with a mother who was an English major in college, KJV is a piece of cake for me. That said, I do prefer the NKJV version, NIV I detest.
