What Prevents The LDS From Being Saved

Indeed. I cannot help but wonder who, of those who live in our day, would have accepted Paul if we'd lived in his. What's more, how many, I wonder, would have accepted Jesus, himself? Who would have been among his humble followers and who would have been among those to cry, "Crucify him...

What Prevents The LDS From Being Saved

Interesting thread. So far, though, I've missed anything that would explain why LDS can't, aren't, won't be saved. I did, especially, appreciate reading the quote from Matthew 16. One of my favorites in all of scripture. Especially when Peter answers the Lord to say, "Thou are the Christ...

    Father and Son numerically seperate

Indeed. Clearly a oneness of unity in purpose, thought, and action, rather than a numerical oneness of personage. A oneness, a unity, in all things spoken of, love, knowledge, words, works, power, glory and perfection (as using his own descriptive language) of what being "one" is addressing.

    Father and Son numerically seperate

Yes, clearly he was speaking to a distinctly separate person (individual, entity, being) from himself.

    Father and Son numerically seperate

My morning scripture study today included a reading of the beautiful intercessory prayer as recorded in John 17. One of my favorite in all scripture, finding it one of the most beautiful as well as most clarifying passages in holy writ as per this topic.

Who is your Mother and Father to honor?

Then you are fortunate. Just remember, though, misfortune can befall anyone. Even the frugal.

Who is your Mother and Father to honor?

Yes, sometimes parents can put too much pressure on their children to succeed by worldly standards. Sometimes terrible pressure, even. Those of religious faith are not immune from doing this to their children, either. It's a delicate balance in our day, though. We're not just dealing with...

    Sin in the Garden

Thank you Clearly. I, too, have no problem saying Adam sinned in the context you describe when degree of culpability is factored in, especially in light of the atonement. I admit finding it an impossibility to comprehend a perspective that would place Adam's sin in the realm of unforgivable as...

Who is your Mother and Father to honor?

It's true that some parents do not feel honored by the honorable, but, again, it's not about what they find honorable, it's about what you do to show them honor. The more honorably you live your life, the more you honor them in the process, even if they do not respect the way you live. Let me...

Does religions borrow from each other? Buddhism

Hi endotheistguy, Haven't taken time to read more of your thread than your OP yet, so I don't yet know any of the responses, or how this thread has progressed. I'll do that after responding with some of my thoughts. My belief is that all good comes from God, from the Creator, call him what...

Who is your Mother and Father to honor?

What your mother feels honored by makes no difference. What she feels is not the defining factor. It's what you do to give and show honor to her. When you honor your mother, you treat her respectfully, graciously, and show her kindness. You also live honorably to the extent you understand...

    Who believes Jesus is God??

I believe God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all God, but I do not believe they are the same being or that they are different manifestations of the same being. Rather I believe that they are three individual beings just as distinct from one another as any man is from his...

    The Dual Nature of Baptism

Well, I find baptism is for more than just the remission of sins, and surely being sinless did not negate the spiritual aspect of Jesus submitting to the physical act of baptism. Without the spiritual, no, going through the motions of being baptized would be no more significant and have no...

    The Dual Nature of Baptism

Physical acts are motions. In and of themselves, they are nothing more, nothing less. It's the spiritual, though, that gives them meaning and purpose. Without the spiritual, without meaning from within the mind, heart, and spirit of the individual, they are yet nothing but motions. But...

    The Dual Nature of Baptism

Well, some thoughts are that we are physical beings. We live in a physical environment. We learn and experience our existence by our physical senses. We are also spiritual beings. Our spirit is housed within our physical body and will be again eternally so with this dual nature even the...
