    Are Protestants dead?

If one looks at the Early Church history you clearly see that Christians gathered around an Apostle or someone who had the hands of an Apostle laid on them. Later on from the second century on we see the number of men Sacramentally Ordained grow as the Church did. The Eucharist or Holy...

If the Devil wrote a Bible, he'd say...

He would say that God came here and has left you orphans, on your own with no guidance.

Pope Francis attacks Christian Fundamentalist Catholics in response to Terrorism

A Catholic fundamentalist in my opinion would be a Catholic who believes that his or her version of the Catholic faith is the correct one even though they conflict with the universal teachings of the Catholic Church.

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

What What was posted on a few of the other replies is that if it is not in the Bible then it is against or opposed to the Bible. Something is opposed or against the Bible if the Bible specifically teaches something opposite to, or specifically forbids something. For instance if the Bible were...

    Ecumenical Councils

I've only heard of the 2016, Orthodox Synod which is now up in the air. Not heard of anything in 2025, but the Pope can call at Ecumenical Council anytime he wants, it's not required to wait a century or two.

    Ecumenical Councils

The Orthodox were invited to all 21 Ecumenical Councils, They chose not to attend some, but were welcome to participate. A few Eastern Bishops did attend a few of the later Councils. The Pan-Orthodox Synod was to take place next year, it only included the Eastern Orthodox Churches, therefore is...

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

Yeah, right! What about salvation by works? What about the Sacraments? What about the infallibility of the Pope? What about Purgatory? What about the Apocrypha? What about praying to saints? What about Mary's perpetual virginity? What about the confession to priests? What about praying for the...

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

Everything taught by the Church is supported by Sacred Scripture, Apostolic Teaching, the Early Christian writings, Church History. Not just because I said them.

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

Everything does not need to be proven from Scripture. Nothing the Popes or the Church have ever taught on Doctrine or Morals is against anything in Scripture. I interpret Scripture exactly as the Church and the early Christians have interpreted Scripture. All if the Scripture commentaries of the...

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

Peter is one of the sheep. Why would Christ leave one of the sheep to care for the other? No, he left a new shepherd to care for His flock. Because Peter was an apostle does that mean he was not a man? No, he was a common man who was chosen and given authority, Christ's authority.

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

Jn 20:30 just says the same as Jn 21:25 that there are many other things that are not recorded in the NT Scriptures. The NT does not say anywhere that it is totally sufficient on it's own, only that it us useful, helpful, etc. 2 Tim 3:16-17 says that the Scriptures are profitable (useful), not...

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

There is no known verse to me where it is said that we must pray for each other before we die, because we won't be able to pray for each other after we die. The book of Maccabees says that it is holy to pray for those who have died. I know you have excluded that book from you bible, even though...

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

That's correct you wouldn't know by looking only in the Bible, because the bible itself says that not everything is contained in the Bible. Jn 21:25 St. Paul uses these same words in 1 Cor 11:2 and 2 Thess 2:15, he speaks of the his oral teaching. We do however know what those teachings are...

Question about praying to Saints in churches.

You seem to have never read any of the Early Christian writings on the Primacy of the Bishop of Rome. There is more evidence showing that Peter was in Rome, was the Bishop of Rome, died in Rome and was buried in Rome. Peter was the head of the Apostles, the first Bishops. Paul came to see Peter...

But I for one would surely would want those who are with God to pray for me since as Luke 16:19-31 shows they do know and care what we are going through and want to help us.

Hold fast to the traditions means the Apostolic Teaching the Oral teaching of the Apostles, because there was no New Testament yet. Question about praying to Saints in churches.

It's all about the Communion of Saints, those passages do not exclude in any way any of the members of the Communion of Saints. There is no passage in Scripture where Paul or anyone says pray for me while I'm still alive, because once we have died we can no longer pray for each other.
