    Evolution = Athiesm

Evolution doesn't necessitate atheism, but I arrived there anyway. How did it happen? The first step was my high school biology teacher explaining how a global flood could not have occurred (this must have occurred because of an unremembered student's question). This set the stage though...

    Evolution Exposed: Earth Science

In the copy of Evolution Exposed: Biology I highlighted many parts of the book and made margin notes as I read it. It was a fun exercise, but I don't know if I will do the same with this new book. The margins are too small for one thing! I've learned one interesting thing: "uniformitarian" is...

    Evolution Exposed: Earth Science

Oh, he's not my professor. He just teaches at a local college. On the table out side his office he has many little pamphlets and books free for the taking. Most of the things are AIG materials. I don't agree with the views, but I'm not aware of anything that would not allow him to do this.

    Evolution Exposed: Earth Science

Does anyone have this book, which is written by Roger Patterson? I got my copy for free off a table outside a professor's office (the prof. can be excused a bit, he is a math prof.) The book is essentially a condensation of all the YEC arguments expressed in this forum. That said there isn't...

    The Evolution of Man (moved)

What an easy question to answer! Learn about shared endogenous retrovirus and human chromosome 2, and it is easy to understand why biologists accept that humans share an ancestor with apes. Why is this thread so long already? ;)

    Endogenous Retroviruses = Evolution

AV, while reading your posts, I realize that you're sincere and know a great deal about the Bible. Put just half the effort you have spent in learning the Bible to understanding biology and you will understand why evolution is such a well supported theory. I'm glad to see this thread, because...

    Obama pro/con (4)

Silentreader, I don't know, but him being a U.S. Senator means he likely has access to more information than the general public. It would be interesting to know what caused his change of mind though...

    Obama pro/con (3)

I haven't watched the video, but I'm curious why some people think that it is bad for a politician to change their mind on an issue? If a person reconsiders an issue, or gets new information I would fully expect them adopt a new conclusion if it was warranted. Wouldn't this be a reasonable thing...

Lake Suigetsu, the Flood and Objects of Known Age

Well, Frumious, this lurker admires your gumption to stick with this thread. Dad's pre-split (oops, should be "adult" not "split") understanding is hard to tolerate. Good work!

Lake Suigetsu, the Flood and Objects of Known Age

Goodness! Dad has been spewing this split non-sense for a long time. Wow!

LDS claims on American Native ancestory

Tenka, you may also be interested in watching this documentery: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hcyzkd_m6KE called "The Lost Book of Abraham". It clearly shows that Joseph Smith made everything up, and modern scholarship shows how clearly these religious texts are completely fictional with regard to...

Why do most other believers seem to hate OECs so much?

Another poster commented on the concept of scientific theories being "proven". (They are never proven.) But accepting that evolution is the correct explanation for the origin of species isn't anything like faith. Because of the massive amounts of evidence for evolution, faith isn't necessary. If...

    It's funny 'cause it's true.

:) Look at the entry for the Wyoming. It states "This American ship had a tendency to flex in heavy seas, causing the long planks to twist and buckle. This allowed sea water into the hold, which had to be pumped out." I bet Noah's ship encountered the same problems. Why doesn't the Bible...

Oops! There goes your whole argument. Do you know why? Read closely: Chevy Tahoes, in whole or part, do not reproduce! What do man made objects have to do with biological life?

    Evidence against abiogenesis/evolution

The only direct measurement you can make is of the magnetic field, measured in units of Telsa or Guass. Inferring the amount of current to generate the measured field will depend on what dynamo model is used, and these models are still being researched. Here are some links from my bookmarks...

    Evidence against abiogenesis/evolution

Your expectation is wrong since the data does not back this up. See the link I posted earlier. If you do start a new thread then please use the unit of measure adopted by all physicists: Tesla. Your own measure of strength is much too subjective.

Beauty and Unity in Creation: The Evolution of Life

This is quite wrong. Evolutionary theory is, quite simply, a science.
